Hello everyone. Nice to "see" everyone again.
Roberta, I hope all is going well in IN.
I FINALLY know what's up with my "hip" after seeing a pain specialist. It's NOT my hip. Over two years, several general practitioners (several of whom were quite insistent the pain wasn't even physical, but part of my mental health  ), about a gazillion or so blood tests, MRIs of my entire spine and pelvis, multiple X-rays, one orthopedist (who supposedly specialized in backs and hips), two rheumatologists and one doc who was specifically a spine specialist - before my GP's office finally referred me to a pain specialist (mostly because they don't like prescribing opiates which are all I can take). Only one doctor, besides the doc today, had even mentioned the joint involved - a 2nd or 3rd year resident at the clinic where I see my GP. I have a problem with my sacroiliac joint - which can cause symptoms in your hip, but isn't an actual hip problem. I also have signs of lumbar spine problems. So, lucky me, I get back PT (no, I don't like PT and esp. not on something this sore). Suffice to say I'm a bit miffed about this news - I've suffered all this time because no one could get a diagnosis right. Plus, I find out from the PAIN DOC about two treatments for my PTSD that not even my pdocs or psychologists/counselors have ever mentioned, both pretty standard according to what I've found via web search. (why don't my mental health providers seem to know these things?) Oh, and the first court date about the divorce is Friday.

WomaninChrist -- at least you finally have your answer! I also have siatica, but it is only occasional and not as severe as most people's. Did they talk about how you sleep? I avoid a lot of the common pain by how I sleep, stretch, etc. If they didn't bring this up, perhaps you can. It could make a major difference.

Hello, everyone! How's everyone tonight?
Roberta, I like your siggy. Everything is possible with faith, but it sure isn't easy, especially when I'm stressed out to the point that I feel like a chicken running around with it's head cut off. Some days, I'm just struggling to read my Bible and pray, with no desire sometimes to do either one, which I know is not good. When you're dealing with a relative who has a serious illness (congestive heart failure), which is getting worse day by day, along with that TOM, I'm just ready for Jesus to return right now, not some distant date in the future. I'll make it though, because I know that I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.
womaninchrist, I'm praying about your court case and hope things work out in your favor on Friday.

Congrats on the appointments. It really seems to me from you've said here that you've accomplished quite a lot since you arrived. Maybe it helps that you're returning to an area you know, but frankly, I think I'd be barely peeking out of my shell so soon after a cross-continental move.

Praying re your court date tomorrow. I'm glad you finally know what is causing your pain. Perhaps the PE will be able to recommend tips for sleeping, moving, sitting, etc., as Abiyah mentioned, that will give relief. I can certainly understand why you're frustrated that you had to wait so long and go through so many doctors to get an answer, though.

I canceled my pdoc for today, because dh and I agreed that if I decided to do this, I'd skip 2 pdoc appointments to pay for it. And I'd thought of this Saturday, when as of Tuesday I knew the organizer still had an opening, but this place is not even in good enough shape to bring in an organizer. For various reasons, this Saturday in the only day in the next few weeks I'll have an opportunity to book the organizer. I'm now wishing I hadn't canceled the pdoc.

You may well have a problem with the family member ~ I guess it depends on what their relationship with the lady is how bad the problem is. Most people seem to at least accept things to maintain a relationship though.

I think that depends on the state where she lives.
If this person gets Disability payments from Social Security (SSDI, SSI), they might be able to get a payee, who can help them pay their bills, etc., so that they don't have any money issues. The payee doesn't have to be a relative, although they prefer that it be one. The person or their doctor just has to ask the SSA how to set it up. The Social Security website should have the information they need to take this step.

Responding to your post a ways back - yes, I certainly should have rescheduled the appointment, or better yet, not have canceled it in the first place, but it was for Thursday evening, so unfortunately that ship has sailed.

Family often thinks that all problems would go away and the life of the person with mental health issues would be peachy keen if only the person followed the family members' wise advice. I've had a lot of that -- and the family members are well-meaning, though misguided, IMO.
Your relative's situation is particularly complicated, because it sounds as if she may have limited decision-making ability. I hope that a statement from the case worker that religious faith will not harm her health will persuade the family member who is helping her to back down on this issue.
If I'm reading your posts correctly, it seems that your relative fears that if she displeases her family member, she will lose her family member's help and support. If the family member has done anything to instill this fear, I would think he would not be an appropriate caregiver for her.
I do not know much about financial services for people with limited ability to handle money, other than the payee option for benefits Melissa mentioned. Other than that, I'd be a bit leery about turning over your relative's money to someone who is not known by the family and highly trusted, in light of how often money managers have acted improperly with clients' money. Misappropriation of a monthly benefit check, I would think, would be difficult to accomplish for long, though, as I would imagine it would quickly become obvious to family that the money hadn't been used to pay the bills and meet the needs of the beneficiary.
If your relative's caregiver is truly controlling, and especially if he continues his hostility toward her Christian faith, I would hope he would not be named her payee, if in fact she needs one.
