Do you have friends in the town you can spend time with, pink? Hope so!!

I wish. I used to, but one family moved to MI and the other to KY. There isn't anything really to do in that town either. They have a few Family Dollar or Dollar General stores, a Kroger and a whole bunch of restaurants. We have no money to eat out with, so I'm packing a picnic supper to eat at the park. Unfortunately it's supposed to be in the 90s.

BTW, where are the categories for "Best one-upsmanship" and "Most irrelevant one-line responses". I know several outstanding nominees in these two categories...

Euty, I love you and appreciate your input on the forum but I need to say that biblical support or citing scriptures does NOT answer most questions (contrary to many opinions). Scripture can be used to answer questions but the speaker can and often does this having little or no understanding of what the question is. Such as when satan used scripture when speaking to Jesus. He used the sword all right but not the sword of the Spirit. KWIM? IOW we can cite scripture ad nauseum but that does not mean we have answered the question.

But how did Jesus reply to Satan? Not with feelings or random thoughts on the subject, but with scripture used properly.

I try to have a scriptural basis for spiritual matters. Sometimes I have found that I'm doing things that I'm used to doing, but with no biblical grounds for doing so.

Do a little searching on his teaching and some of the things he's been into and you might be enlightened...but then, I don't really know what you're into.

I am so glad you were saved watching his show. However, many people get saved (in personal dark moments) watching false teachers on television, i.e., Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer, Kenneth Copeland, etc. One would hope that they don't "stay" with them as they grow in the Word of God though.

Of course, no man saves anyone else. it was the holy Spirit who led me to walk down, confess my sin and turn my life to Christ. I do remember Dr. Robison saying that the day of salvation was today and that we shouldn't suppose that we would have another chance for salvation.

I get what both of you are saying. I was saved at a Kenneth Copeland event and agree that he didn't save me, the Lord did, and the Lord has also guided me away from Copeland's horrid false teaching.

I have heard that as well, and frankly all you have to do is look at homes that are run by a 2 year old and you can just imagine how messed up it would be if they had the size to really do what they want.

That's because 2 year olds have not fully developed their cognitive thinking. Just a mentally handicapped person is not responsible for their actions. So is a small child who hasn't fully developed... Once they know the difference between good and evil they are accountable.

2 year olds know what NO means.

Chuck, pick any age at all and the child will chose to sin because it is their nature. Always have, always will. You cannot convince me otherwise unless you been holding back on all those examples of people who never chose to sin from cradle to grave.

I just meant that even if you watch the Farewell dvd, that the songs don't sound exactly the same as they did in '85 (and not just because Schlitt sings some). It was more a stylistic comment than about age. They could run circles around me I'm sure.

Color me foolish, but when a doctrine contradicts that which has been held across 2 millennia and across diverse traditions, it is, at best, not orthodox and, more often than not, heresy. Legitimate doctrine is, IMO, formed by scripture and confirmed by the larger Community of believers. This is how error is avoided.

2010 Ginny's Buzz Room Personally For You pink.. n/a n/a 7/11/2010 10:23:01 PM
pink..

quote:

I smoke too and no I'm not proud of it. I do want to quit before the baby gets here. He's due Aug. 6, but I keep telling dd that he'll come July 17. Of course, I don't really know that, only God knows for sure.

Ginny (and anyone else) would you please check out my facebook status update from yesterday? It's based on Phil. 4:8 and asks for people to name good things about the world. I plan to continue it tomorrow and possibly for the next few days, each time asking for people to name good things about something a little harder because it'll be closer to home each time. I think tomorrow's string will ask people to name good things in alphabetical order about their town they live in. I don't know anyone who isn't going through some sort of struggle in their lives right now. Some of them are very heartbreaking. This string is set up like a game, so you can get goofy (and you need to with some letters) but I am hoping that it will help people to understand that we serve the God of all creation and that is a good thing.

(P.S. In yesterday's string we covered the alphabet twice.)

I've also seen the trick that involves calling on people to raise their hands if they need salvation or re-dedication if no one comes down. At the risk of being irreverent I have opened my eyes during a few of these and seen no one raise their hands, yet the evangelist/speaker will say "Thank you, I see that hand." This is rare of course, not the norm. When it happens though, it's always come off to me like the speaker is afraid no one will believes he has a sucessful ministry if he doesn't get at least one 'result'.

Wow! I had never heard of the 1 hour giving a false negative. Why is it so "routine" then? That is crazy, especially if the 3 hour is more accurate.
