Patricia King and a New Pair of Shoes!

You don't think new shoes should take precedents over, say, Haiti, Darfur, unemployment, widows or orphans?

Now, now, Ben. You know green prosperity feathers and portals and angels and gold dust (and shoes!) have priority over all that.

I haven't heard of it as a specific doctrine per se, but a basic cracking open of the Bible should tell you that we will not have heaven on this fallen planet until after the Lord returns. And even then it will be a new heavens and a new Earth.

Just out of curiosity, is it some kind of hypercharasmatic or Word of Faith church?

I'm just venturing a guess here, but is it possible that this is some version of postmillennialism?

Or is that too obvious?

Just a basic reading of Revelation, particularly chapter 21.

Here is something to consider... If anybody had a sinful nature and was totally depraved it would be Cain and Abel.. They were direct descendants from Adam... Yet both of them were giving sacrifices to God of their own volition... Does that denote inability?

If there was one thing Jesus revealed to us is that doing religious things does not indicate a righteous heart. There were two sects in His time on earth that, like the rich young ruler, who kept the Law perfectly from their youth, yet Jesus called them vile serpents and painted tombs full of unclean bones.

quote:

We have the free will to choose good or evil.

Apparently that freedom has been flawed because ALL men ALWAYS choose evil unless they are saved by the only One who did not choose sin.

BTW, Jesus said that there is only One who is good and that is God. Not you, not me, not babies. God.

Nowhere in Scripture does it say “Jesus took the keys of hell and death from Satan.” This again is a false word faith teaching. Neither did Satan steal the keys from Adam as the word faith teachers espouse, because Adam did not have them.

Instead...here’s what the Scripture says: Rev. 1:18: “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. Where does it say he took them? He possessed them. Again they go beyond what is written with their imagination and make this up. This is a great Bible myth. In Rev. 1:18 The word is Hades, not hell; the key is the emblem of power and authority. Christ can both save and destroy, can kill and make alive. Just as Jesus said that no man takes his life from him, he lays it down himself. Death is still under his dominion, and he can recall the dead whenever he pleases. He is the resurrection and the life.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4: is that “Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again.” There is no details like these men have added with their fertile imaginations. It may make for good story telling but to cheer at this shows complete Biblical ignorance. Jesus said on the cross before He expired, “Father, into your hands I commit my Spirit” (Matthew 27:50; John 19:30). If he landed in Hell under Satan, than who is his Father in whom he committed his Spirit to? this is not a good picture, it mocks the most sacred time of Jesus' ministry, the very purpose Jesus the Son of God came to earth for.

Great stuff! I'd never heard it put exactly that way before. We also musn't forget Psalm 24:1 "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and all who dwell therein." Doesn't sound like Satan has any keys to me. I think that also plays into the awful dominionism theology where God 'lost' the earth to Satan at the fall and it's up to us Christians to get it back. Ugh.

Then I certainly hope that your church worships Him without any electricity or in a building with modern materials, because He never mentioned those either.

More to the point, since seeing Jesus is seeing the Father, the Father took great delight in being worshipped with all manner of musical instruments. Either Jesus and the Father are unified in all things or else they aren't.

I disagree with your analogy.

Electricity is not something we use to worship Him, it's a tool to assist us in sight (lights) and environment (heating and air). Instruments clearly are not a similar ordeal.

What about the disunity between your version of God the Son and God the Father who clearly took delight in all instrument used in worship? I've run across several people in my life who mistakenly think God the Father is mirthless, but only certain CoC have indicated Jesus would be disturbed by instruments used in joyful worship and praise of Him.

I don't understand how anyone thinks God had a major personality change between the last verse in Malachi and Matthew 1.

I had a discussion in another thread about this and I pointed to the story in Luke where the Pharisees ask Jesus when the kingdom oF God would come:

20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” (NKJV)

I think that makes it abundantly clear that kingdom of God is the souls of everyone that He bought with His blood.

I think having literal heaven on earth before the events in Revelation come to pass is hypercharasmatic hooey.

Now I'm confused because that's the exact verse that they're using to promote their doctrine.

Didn't mean to confuse. It really depends on what exactly the church is teaching. Do they teach that the heaven on earth means that we can have a pearly gate, golden street, no crying death or pain heaven here on the planet earth. Because I believe that is quite impossible on this fallen earth before the return of Christ, whenever you believe that is. However if they are Latter Rain/WOF/hypercharasmatic they are probably talking about signs and wonders and manifestations and shekinah glory and angels and such as 'heaven'.

A possible contradiction - 7/11/2010 6:46:21 PM
(Singles Folder)

quote:

ORIGINAL: EclecticJoy

Interestingly enough, what I have shared in my posts here in this thread have been my viewpoints for many, many, MANY years . . . of which the extreme very vast majority of that time, I was single.

My viewpoint didn't suddenly change 11 weeks ago. Nor am I "trying to impart wisdom as a married person" . . . I am simply relating how things have worked for me (regardless of my marital status at any given time).

Everyone has a choice; they can choose to live their life to the very fullest (even in the midst of trials and tribulations, whatever they may be) and they can choose to learn and grow through their such times - OR- they can make such times the focus of their life. For me, I have endeavored to do the first option . . . and it has worked very well for me (and never, at any point did I ever considered myself to be living a life "less" than what I could have really have).

Incidentally, I have experienced quite a number of horrific things in my life. If anyone is interested, please do a search on my handle in BlogTowne. You'll get but just a very minor glimpse of some of the things I have lived through.

Should I take any one of those things and then make it the focus of my life? No, of course not. That would be such a waste of the very precious gift of life Our Lord has given to me.

The way that I got through all those things was via Our Lord. We can and should take everything to Him.
When I take whatever to Him, I get through it infinitely better than when I don't. Additionally, when I take something to Him, it "loses its power" over me and it's not such a looming focus in my life.

The tie-in with the above paragraphs about my blog, etc. to this thread is that not being able to have sex seems to be a really huge issue for [some] people. So be it. But it really doesn't have to be. But, again, in the end, it is each person's own individual choice as to how big of an issue they're going to let abstinence be in their life.

HIS Peace and HIS Joy,
Sharon-Marie

Nah, there's a lot of beauty in storms. They get to me once in a while, especially when the rotation is right over my town, but usually when a storm is coming in I'm taking pictures until it starts lightening or raining. Memaw is right, you learn to respect the weather. I get weather updates through my e-mail which is sent to my phone.

But I'm looking for a more spiritual point of view, rather than the obvious secular reasons.

You can start with Jesus, who said to give the government what it claims as its area of control ("render unto Caesar's that which is Caesars").

Follow that with Romans 13:1-5

Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.

For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.

Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake.

It depends on which package you purchase. I have unlimited on my cell package.

I don't have texting. I think I can get four a month, then it's like $.50/text after that, so I just have it turned off.

Our plan has a limited number of texts we can send and receive. And these texts were huge media messages that took up a lot of the memory of my phone, and they were really vile, too--not something I wanted to be surprised with all the time. Pictures of black men running from the KKK with burning crosses, that sort of stuff. It was disturbing just to see that I had another one even if I didn't open them. I went online and blocked that number.

Oh wow, those are horrible beyond words!!
