The Plop

There was once a Canadian bird who decided he didn’t want to fly south for the winter. He decided it was nonsense to go all the way down south when he could just stay right where he was at. So he stayed behind. Well after awhile, it got kind of cold. Finally, he could take it no more and decided to fly south after all. As he was flying through the air, ice began to form on his wings to the point where he could no longer fly so he glided down and landed in a barnyard.

So here is the bird, he’s half frozen in a barnyard and at the point of death. About that time along comes a cow who walks right over the bird and drops a "plop" on him. Now the bird is really disgusted. He’s half frozen, dying, and now he has this "plop" on him. After a short time though, the ice begins to melt off of the bird. He starts to get warm under that "plop." He begins to think to himself, "It’s getting warm. I’m going to live! I’m going to live!" Then right there underneath that "plop" he starts to sing little bird songs> He’s now happy once again.

About that time a cat comes along and hears this noise coming from underneath this "plop." He moves the stuff off the bird and eats the bird.

There are three morals to the story:

1. Not everyone who drops a "plop" on you is necessarily your enemy
2. Not everyone who moves it off of you is necessarily your friend
3. And if someone does drop a "plop" on you, keep your mouth shut.

Dumb Questions from Lawyers

The following questions by lawyers were taken from actual court documents in America:
*

"Was that the same nose you broke as a child?"

*

"Now doctor, is it not true that when a person dies in his sleep, in most cases he just passes quietly away and doesn’t know anything about it until the next morning?"

*

Q: "What happened then?"
A: "He told me, ‘I have to kill you because you can identify me.'"
Q: "And did he kill you?"

*

"Was it you or your brother that was killed in the war?

*

"The youngest son, the twenty year old, how old is he?"

*

"Were you alone or by yourself?"

*

"Do you have any children or anything of that kind?"

*

Q: "I show you exhibit 3 and ask you if you recognize that picture?"
A: "That’s me."
Q: "Were you present when he picture was taken?"

*

"Were you present in court this morning when you were sworn in?"

*

Q: "Mrs. Johnson, how was your first marriage terminated ?"
A: "By death."
Q: "And by whose death was it terminated?"

*

Q: "Do you know how far pregnant you are now?"
A: "I’ll be three months on November 8th."
Q: "Apparently then, the date of conception was August 8th?
A: "Yes."
Q: "What were you doing at that time?

*

"So you were gone until you returned?"

*

Q: "She had three children right?"
A: "Yes."
Q: "How many were boys?"
A: "None."
Q: "Were there any girls?"

*

"Mrs. Jones, how many times have you committed suicide?"

*

"You don’t know what it was, and you didn’t know what it looked like, but can you describe it?"

*

Q: "You say the stairs went down to the basement?"
A: "Yes."
Q: "And these stairs, did they go up also?"

*

Q: "Do you recall approximately the time that you examined the body of Mr. Edington at the Rose Chapel?"
A: "The autopsy started about 8:30 p.m."
Q: "And Mr. Edington was dead at that time?"

I am watching the deer hunting channel. My son Z deer hunts and he is in the living room where I am and that is what he decided to watch. Bow hunting no less. Lots of deer being killed with nice antlers. Z keeps making Ahh noises.

Z knows how to get his own food: fish, rabbit, squirrel, and deer. We love it when he fishes and fries up some for us to eat. Fresh fish fry is good. Mom brought two guns, my oldest had claimed one but cause he was living here Z got both guns to hunt with. I guess I should say one is a rifle and one is a shot gun. Mom has a really nice gun cabinet too that Z is going to get. My brother made it and its a very nice cedar cabinet looks like a corner china cabinet.

Mom is giving us furniture but we have to go to MS to collect it. When we do we'll get the gun cabinet.

DH and my Dad just bought DS his 1st hunting rifle/shotgun for his birthday. It's a .22 rifle that converts into a .410 shotgun. Nick can't wait to go try it out!

Hey Ginny!

I've never heard that *plop* story before. It's good.

I've heard some of the other jokes you told us, but I still like hearing them. Funny.

When I was a kid, my brother took me out to the rifle range and got me shooting targets. I got them all. It was his now bil's air rifle, if I remember correctly. It was a lot of fun. My parents would have skinned us both alive if she knew that my brother had taken me there with a loaded weapon.

LOL! Are your parents are alive?

Today is a lazy day. I slept in until almost 11:00 am. I need to go to the store and check out computers.

Not anymore.

Lazy days can be good. I'm planning on having one today. I'm not going anywhere whilst it's going to be 107F (42C). I need air conditioning.

A man fell off a cliff and found himself holding on to a branch that he saw. He called out and said is there anyone up there? God answered I am here, do you trust me? The man answered, yes I trust you! The Lord then said let go. The man thought for a moment, and then said is there anybody else up there?

Another story. A man was in a flood, praying to the Lord for help. A man comes to his house in a raft and says let me rescue you, but the man says no, I am praying to God to answer my prayer!

Then the rain got so bad that he was then on the roof praying. A helicopter with a ladder showed up and said let me rescue you, but the man again said no, I am waiting for God to answer my prayer.

Later in heaven, he asks God why didn't He rescue him? God replied I sent you a man in a raft and a helicopter, what else should I have done?

Good ones Mike. I wonder if I would let go of the branch if the Lord asked me too, probably not. Sorry to say.

I've heard those before, Mike.

Lisa, it was 0*F? That is a bit cool. I remember those days. I doesn't normally happen too often where I live now, but in New Zealand, I used to walk to school barefooted in -6F. I loved walking through the crunchy frost. Then I'd quickly put my shoes back on once I got to school. Sure wouldn't do that now.

You can have some of our heat though. You don't have to take all of it, but even some would help.

Ginny, it was good talking to you. I hope I managed to encourage you and not stress you out.

Did you talk to somebody at the hospital about your dh?

I enjoyed our talk Trish and I knew the Holy Spirit was with us when we prayed. He gave me a deep sense of Jesus's presence and his sweetness.

My daughter came in right after we ended our phone conversation. I am babysitting her puppy this afternoon for a little bit. My youngest son is supposed to be babysitting after he gets off of work. Marley has been trying to chew my computer cord and she jumps on the computer.

Hope my son doesn't forget his job here at our house because I have a church dinner to go to at 4:45. I need a shower and need to wash my hair too. I've made the pecan pie bars. My responsibility was to take some bar cookies.

Trish, my decision is to wait on the Lord. He is the one who has won the battle.

Search on Spiritual Warfare.

These are the links I found on a web site concerning spiritual warfare. I'm going to check them out and see what they give me in understanding things.

I'm reading in 1 Samuel 1-7. So far I only have gotten somewhat into chapter 2. I like it that Hannah wept bitterly before the Lord and after Eli said he hopes the Lord fulfills her request she goes home with a glad heart. Made me think that she was confident that her request had been heard and would be answered.

We Receive Christ by Personal Invitation
[Christ speaking] "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him." 10

Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for your sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. You receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will.

Faith is in general the persuasion of the mind that a certain statement is true,[5] belief in and assent to the truth of what is declared by another, based on his or her supposed authority and truthfulness.[6] Informal usage can be quite broad, and the the word is often used as a mere substitute for trust or belief.
