Kiltman, let me add my welcome to the Den! Yep, you've landed at a very comfortable place!

Yes it is a very comfortable place so comfy that it can get a bit kooky at times but you will find that out soon enough.

Welcome, Kiltman! Please make yourself at home and help yourself to some coffee.

I had to look up Alexander Scourby. I am totally listening to Job instead of trying to read it!!!

Lioness, did you find it online or did you buy it somewhere? And if so, where? Did he narrate only KJV?

Sorry for taking so long to answer, Pam. I found THIS online and wanted to make sure it worked okay before I linked it.

Oh, and yes I think it's only in KJV. Since I'll probably only listen to certain books, that'll be okay for me. But it seems there's more than a few audio bibles online so you can probably find another translation if you prefer.

Good Monday Morning, Denizens!

Today would be the first day back to school. Last night we were notified of a 2 hour delay. The kids, as you may well imagine, were stoked. I got a call 15 minutes ago to let me know that school is canceled for today.

We already had snow. This that keeps coming down is overkill.

Good morning one and all.

Must have been a storm last night.
My house looks like a tornado hit it.

I want to do something other than chores, but.....
I'd have to come home sooner or later - blah

I should have asked for "maid service" for Christmas..
hmm maybe for my birthday?

They really need to hurry up and build the robot maids.

Good Morning, Boats. A tornado inside?

I have to go to work today and the kids will be home. I shudder to think what state the house will be in when I get home.

On a completely unrelated note ~ "bored of" makes no sense whatsoever. It's "bored with"!

'Morning Den.

Poor Lioness, I will pray for a "cease & desist" order for snow in your area!

Hope you all have great days. And that Lioness does not come home to a kid created inside tornado in her home -

'Morning, Gma. I appreciate the weather prayer. This is sort of ridiculous. I remember benelchi making fun of me when I talked about moving my grill from the deck to the garage. He said a little rain or snow never stopped him from grilling outside. Ha! The grill has a foot of snow on top of it and there's 2' of snow on the deck around it. Not only that, I don't know how it could possibly get hot enough to cook something when it's 10º outside.

I flunk winter grilling.

I have a home maintenance/repair question for anyone who can tell me what to do...

Where the soffit and fascia meet there's an "L" bracket thingy (that's the technical term for that I'm sure ) over the joint. Two pieces of "L" meet and overlap over my patio door and when it rains (or, God willing, the snow on the roof melts) there's a constant drip right over the center of my door. Can I seal that overlap with something so that it won't drip there? And, if so, what should I use?

Lioness when they put the roof on they should have put a deflector about a foot from the edge. That too is a metal "L" shaped piece of metal that deflects the water to either side. I am not sure you can seal the joint between the soffit and facia board and stop the water from dripping at the door. Lowes and Home Depot both carry a tube of roof repair (Usually black and tar like) that fits a caulking gun. You could try that.

Good morning, Denziens!

Let's see...the year started off...differently. The Things had a couple of friends over New Years Eve. I crashed at 1230 and left them to their devices. Stoopid move. They were still going strong at 0400 and my house was destroyed and both boys refused to help clean it up. Thing 1 especially got out of it because he's spoiled by his grandparents. Thing 2 just has the attention span of an ADHD gnat

New Years Day we took Thing 2 to McGuires (an AMAZING Irish pub, brewery and all!) and then to see 3D Avatar. EXCELLENT movie.

And I'm STILL cleaning, and tonight I'll be packing for my trip tomorrow. *sigh*

But the good news is THE COWBOYS MADE IT TO THE PLAYOFFS!!!! *dances*

It took me a minute to picture it but I know what you mean now! No, there's nothing like that up there.

This "L" thing is (I think) meant to seal the joint between the soffit and fascia. It's sorta like this in cross-section where the "u" is the gutter, the lower-case "l" is the fascia and the dashes are the soffit u|l---- that between the u and the l is this metal "L" over the joint. Two pieces of it overlap right over the door.

I don't know how helpful that was, I just wanted to see if I could "draw" it.

From what you described I think that is there to keep water from blowing back up under the edge of the shingles. Sealing that will not do you any good. At least I don't think so.

On the other hand you mentioned gutters. If you have gutters I am not sure why you would have a driip. Unless of course the gutters or the downspout are stopped up causing them to overflow.

No, thank goodness, that isn't the problem. I think water seeps into that L, runs along it and drips where there's a seam. I wouldn't care if it dripped so long as it wasn't right where I walk through to go outside.

In that case try some caulking compound in the seam. May even try the roof repair I mentioned earlier.

I think I did it.

On the other hand, I could be just fooling myself.

Gotta go to work, will check in when I get back. Thank you so much for even caring whether I'm I have a drip or not!
