Hey Gary!

Good Morning, Denizens! It's a balmy 5º here this morning (outside, not inside ). I heard tree limbs cracking when I was outside with the dogs.

It's going to take A LOT of coffee this morning!

I had a nap and am now having a cup of coffee. Thinking about what to do next. MC "cleaned" (this is a relative term in his vocabulary) his room and I think he just emptied all his drawers into the laundry hamper. So I've got all that to do.

I got an invite to this 'read your bible in a year' thing on facebook. I'm 3 days behind already.

For one thing, I need a schedule that starts with the minor prophets or something. I've read Genesis a gazillion times and never get to the books in the middle of my Bible. PLUS, I thought it would be cool to read chronologically. Only that means reading Job in the middle of Genesis. I have never made it the whole way through Job. I read the first several chapters and then I skip to the last 5 or 6 chapters. So, as you can see, this here reading schedule is not going to work for me. I need to rearrange it and put Job, Numbers and Deuteronomy at the end when I'll be so close to having done it in a year that it will compel me to finish.

And isn't that just more than you ever wanted to know about how I feel regarding "read your Bible in a year" schedules?

Lioness, do you read PrincessDonna's PFY? She (and some others) are doing the chronological thing, and following a reading list Donna got somewhere else. I'm thinking of joining in. Check it out!

ETA: Here's a link (if it works).

In the great blizzard of 1993, the one where Mrs. K beat the storm from NC bearing wonderful things to eat (all of which required cooking, and we had no electricity) we heard the limbs cracking like gunshots. We were way out by the lake in the country, with large trees everywhere.

Mrs. K was convinced that some sort of deliverance characters were going house to house killing everyone. I finally got her to believe that it was just blasting at the zinc mines.

Then it sounded like people were walking on our roof. I had no explanation for that one.

We just put on all our clothes, put every cover we had on the bed, and cuddled in, weapons at the ready.

I'm glad I didn't like actually make the resolution because I bookmarked the list about the bible reading and then forgot about it, or fell asleep cause I was tired. Pick one.

So IF i had made resolutions I would have broke them, but I didnt

and I had taco bell yesterday. Maybe I am just doing it backwards. LOL

I don't do those schedules very well. I'm such a goal oriented person, I forget what I'm reading just so I can get the "goal" for the day done. I finally decided to just read through the Bible with no schedule what-so-ever. It took me a lot longer, but I got a whole lot more out of it.

No, Pam, I hadn't seen that. Thank you for linking it (your link worked perfectly)! That schedule is a little different than the one I have. Between that and Friend Cranky's sensible advice to just do it 'even if it takes 3 years' I think will work for me.

I get so hung up on the dates and doing it *exactly perfectly* that I end not doing it at all. So relaxing about the timing is the only way I can do it. Thank you again!

I wasn't going to type my bible reading issues 'cause I thought I was dumb. I'm so glad I did!

See, that's my problem. But I'd heard of a chronological bible and was going to look into that so this chronological reading will suit me and be way cheaper than buying another Bible! Plus, I do need something to keep me disciplined (or else I'll skip most of Job. Again ), I just need it to be looser than a daily schedule.

Lioness, if it is any consolation, I was on the 16 month plan on reading the whole Bible within a year.

That's more my speed!

Now I'm only one day "behind" ( I HAVE to quit thinking like that ) and have some dinner in the oven for myself (the kids are at their dad's or their grandparent's).

Still haven't done anything about the laundry, though.

I needed to use up some leftover ham so I threw it together with some mac & cheese and added peperoncini and baked it till it was hot through. Comfort food for a cold day.

Sounds good. Now I'm hungry. And I just ate.

I'm one day behind now too! Well, two, if you count today. I'm following a Daily Chronological Bible I forgot I had (NIV). We'll see how this works out. We'll all have to pray for each other!

Yeah, I read the Bible in a year in just 16 months.

Nice den! Coffee n' comfort food. My style

Being bilingual, I find it easier to read the Bible in Spanish. That way, my overtaxed, American-English side can kick back while the other works!

¡Alabadle al Señor! (Praise the Lord!)

How can a unilingual person get the same effect? Mmm...listening to Alexander Sourby's fine English accent in those Bible recordings might do it

Gracias, phosadaud!

Good folk here--good compensation for the "cold" weather here in South Carolina. Unbelievable: below freezing for the first time this year. Pobrecito yo!

Hello ImBrandnew. Yes, seemed to normal to hear KJV at one time. Now, it sounds luxurious next to someone reading, say, NIV.

My Scourby is scratchy. I've been trying to find a clear-voice recording of his.

If I can't, I'm inclined to get one recorded by Johnny Cash. Now there's a voice that captivates. I can just hear the "Hello everybody, I'm Johnny Cash" guy reading, "I am the way, the truth, and the life".

Welcome, Kiltman! Please make yourself at home and help yourself to some coffee.

I had to look up Alexander Scourby. I am totally listening to Job instead of trying to read it!!!
