Oops, me too Patricia. This is not a good sign... . Do you 'spose it's because I didn't get to any service this last Sunday? Turned out I was having some "plumbing issues" that morning and didn't get to church at all.

Good morning, Den.

This morning I am thankful that I do not have problems with my blood pressure, as DH's ex is testing it with her idea of what is in "the best interest at heart".

Well, bless her heart.

The First Hymn for Atheists. Enjoy!

Now THAT was FUNNY!

I do hope it was your house's plumbing and not your plumbing, gma.

Ha! No Pam, it's not "personal" plumbing issues .

I have been having ongoing sump-pump issues for the last couple years. It appears that once again my sump-pump has died. This one only lasted a couple months . When the guy put this last one in we kind of determined that I must have a broken pipe from my kitchen drain - apparently "stuff" from the kitchen sink goes down the drain, dumps into the drain tile under the basement floor and then empites into the sump pump basin, clogging the pump.

To "fix" this he believes I would need to jack-hammer up the basement floor and replace the broken pipe. This will run several thousand $$ which I do not have. I had hoped trying to be sure to scrape dishes and dump things in the bathroom sink instead of the kitchen would baby the pump along at least until next summer when I hopefully would be a bit more able to handle the cost of the real repair. I guess that's not going to work.

So now I am looking at fall coming up, which will mean a "rainy" season, and I'm in a fix - or not (in a) fix(ed) depending on how you look at it I guess .

One "handy man" guy that I was whinning to suggested maybe replacing the sump-pump with a sewage pump, that they are designed to move sewage and have a grinding mechanisim that might not be messed up by the stuff from the kitchen... anybody know if that might work??? Any Den-Men with any idea(s)?

Arrgh. I hate this part of home-ownership- alone. My Ex would have known how to take care of this, not to mention being another much higher income in the household. However, on the bright side, I don't have to deal with his "temprement" and this too. Sigh.

((((((((Gma))))))))) Ugh! Wish I could help you out but I know nothing about plumbing aside from the most basic workings of a toilet and how to use a toilet plunger.

I just found out I'm going on another ride along tomorrow. This one will be with the sheriff's department where I live (I work in a different county). Apparently, a deputy will come pick me up at my house for the ride. I can't wait to see the neighbors' reaction to that! Most of them don't have a clue what I do.

Thanks Phosy, sounds like we have about the same amount of plumbing ability .

Hmm, wonder if your neighbors will start baking cakes with a file in 'em for you . Maybe not though, since he probably won't put you in cuffs before letting you get in the car . Hope you have "fun" on your ride along.

Hmm, I can't sleep. How annoying. Any other Denziens have the same problem, or am I wandering around in here by myself?

I'm up. First day back to school.

I so empathize with you about the home ownership/repairs/repair costs, Gma. I hope someone can give you some good and trustworthy advice or info.

Phosy, I bet the neighbors will really wonder when they see how happy and excited you are to go with the nice officer.

I would like to report that GC is in the newspaper for tennis. She had a match yesterday and she...

upended

defeated

routed

pummeled

and soundly TROUNCED

her opponent!

She's the first singles player to win a match this year. First and Second got beat again yesterday.

Thank you!

And what's an even greater victory is that she seems to have had an epiphany recently about everything I've been telling her about self-talk over the last 4 years and has started realizing exactly what she's been saying to herself and how it's affected her and how to change it. The upshot being that she gave herself her own pep-talks while she was playing and, wonder of wonders, played better! That's probably the least important aspect of self-talk but she got confirmation that it's something real and not just blather.

Good for GC!! Most of all on the "self talk" part. It really does make a difference- I still have to catch myself and change that voice I hear in my head sometimes. Funny how negative it can get sometimes - negatie and wrong.

Well, I'm awake - again - darn it. And now I actually have to think about working, when I'd rather go back to bed again.

Thanks for the coffee FB, I really need it this morning, hopefully it will last until my coffee pot gets done perking.

This is really, really dumb.

I'm a checker. I check and recheck things. A lot. A little OCD maybe but whatever. Anyway, when I get hardcopy info about something I keep that paper to check, right? Only because I'm also an 'out of sight, out of mind' kind of person that means that all those pieces of paper have to be out where I can see them. But I can't stand clutter. It's a dilemma.

So, I'm trying to get over my need to keep and recheck papers. I've been writing the info in my calendar and throwing the paper away. Well, a couple weeks ago I got a letter from my trash collection co. that they were changing my collection day. I wrote in my calendar when that was to take effect (today) and threw the letter away. So far, my trash has been sitting at the end of the driveway since last night and hasn't been picked up and it's bugging the daylights out of me. I'm now second guessing myself about what I thought the letter said and basically tying myself in knots over some stupid garbage.

I told you it was dumb.

What about calling them to double check the day & date? Would that help alleviate some of the angst? I totally get where you're coming from though ... I file EVERYTHING ... even little post-it notes. I'm also a container queen ... at one point I had most things in clear containers with lids in an attempt to organize the house ... didn't work. (With 5 kids, I wasn't holding my breath, but had hoped it would stay organized for at least an hour!) I just recently got rid of a bunch of containers, and then when I was organizing some of the kids stuff, I was going nuts because I had just disposed of the perfect container.

I called the only number I had and got the main Waste Management office (not my local one) and they had no information and didn't know what I was talking about except to say that they had been doing some rescheduling in my area but didn't know about my specific route. They were nice but remarkably unhelpful.

It bugs me to tears to have my garbage sitting out there. I don't know why, it just does. I have issues.

I can sure empathize with you about trying to get the kids' stuff contained! Like nailing jello to the wall!

Okay, it's official. I've lost my mind.

The local WM guy called and he had no idea in this world what I was talking about.

So I have no idea what the letter, if there even was a letter, said.

I think I'll just have a cup of coffee and thank God that I have these kinds of problems rather than the kinds I used to have. And, yes, enjoy my insanity.

Our trash guy is notorious for showing up between (before 7am) and 1pm. You'd think he'd be consistent, as a few times we put the trash out at 7am and he had apparently already come. So, like any neighborly pest, we usually let it sit out there for a few days before retreating back up the driveway.

Our recycling pickup is typically around 6:00-6:30 each Wednesday morning. I'm so glad my bedroom faces the back yard rather than the front.

Our trash isn't supposed to be picked up before 7am ... however, on those really nice beach-type days, you could guarantee they'd be there by 6:30 so that they could have the afternoon off. Well, I finally got tired of a) not getting the trash out in time -- Scott usually takes it out at 6:55 as he leaves for work, and b) those loud trucks waking the kids with the squealing breaks and slamming doors, that I called the city and complained. This was on one of those 6:30 pick up days ... the entire neighbourhood is like me and waits until almost 7 (otherwise we have to put it out after 10pm the night before per city bylaws). I guess the supervisor called them BACK to work and sent them to clean up our street, which still in their swim trunks ... they were quite ticked off and ended up tossing the cans across the yards once they emptied them. Other neighbours called and complained, and they had to come back AGAIN and set everything proper. They were soooo peeved ... BUT they haven't tried that stunt again ... and trash is now picked up at 7:30.

Most of my neighborhood puts garbage cans out the evening before pickup. Is there a reason not to do that where you live?

That's what we do too...makes it easier to do it when it's still light outside since I leave at oh'dark thirty to go to work.
