Does anyone know the recipe for making homemade baby wipes?

Not a "recipe" but what I've done...cut a roll of paper towel (thick Bounty works well) in half with a large kitchen knife. In a tupperware container (there are some that are the perfect size for this) mix warm water (maybe 1/3-1/2 full? I haven't done it in awhile. And I guess. ) baby shampoo, and some baby lotion. Add the paper towel. Cover and shake until the PT is completely saturated. You can drain out any excess after this. The cardboard roll in the center will easily lift out, and I pull the wipes out from the center.

I never used wipes at all - just strips of cotton wool soaked in warm water.

Ok...need to vent quickly here.......

Why do people, pure strangers, always feel the need to tell me that my baby is small for his age? He is not small.....he hovers around the 50th percentile in everything. No, he does not have the tons of baby fat that other kids have, but he has plenty and he is healthy. Never had a cold and has only popped a fever once when he got his 2 month shots. He is communicating with me via sign language and we are both learning more and more each day. He is super social. He has not crawled yet and still has some difficulty going from laying down to sitting up. SO WHAT???????? He is not deficient. He is not behind. He is not too skinny and eats like a pig.

He has been on this earth for almost nine months......................LAY OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

::::takes a deep breath:::::

....thanks ladies..... Back to your normal everyday potty trianing and diaper chat......

Breathe Mama, you are doing everything right. People have opinions about EVERYTHING! Each and every baby are different, gaining their milestones at different times. Just nod your head and let it roll off of you like the rain. *hugs*

Haha Sharon. Trust me, once you have kids you are on the highway to critisim and unwanted advice. I never argue, I just nod and agree and keep doing what you were doing. If you were looking for advice you would ask for it. My personal opinion.

At least you can correct them and tell them he's perfectly right for his age. People say that about Gideon, who really is still small for his age, all the time as if it means he's deficient and I feel like I have to defend him and explain that he was sick for his first year. Sometimes I feel like saying it nicely. Other times, not so much. Gideon also didn't roll over until 11 months and didn't walk until 15 months.

Anyone ever get annoyed at questions when your son has different coloring then both parents? Like, "Where did he come from?"

It's ironic that Beth looks so much like Greg and I, but she's also the only grandchild on both sides to have dark hair and dark eyes. Everyone else in the grandchild generation is blond and blue.

I *used* to get those kind of comments from others about DS's looks. Now...not so much. DH has blue eyes so people choose to think that he is DH's biological child. People are always going to talk about something!!!

I don't like it either, Sharon. My fourth grade teacher gave me some good advice though. She said that if I ignored the people who were making fun of me or teasing me or bugging me, then they would leave me alone. To my surprise, her advice worked for me. I know it isn't easy, especially when it is YOUR child. When J was small, I had people constantly trying to give me advice. My ex-MIL tried to tell me what to do as far as feeding him, etc. Ex-DH didn't tell her to shove off (as I would have liked).

I must be the odd one out - never felt the need to get defensive over people's comments, especially if they're just some random person. Harder to let them just roll over you if they're family, and in your face about it, but not impossible. It's not worth the energy of getting upset or angry about it - no need to let their words have any power/hold over you.

I got plenty of the "where did he get that from?" comments, since I have brown hair and hazel eyes, Dave has brown hair and green/grey eyes, yet Jonathan has blonde hair and blue eyes. I didn't see it as an attack, but as a genuine enquiry - so I told them: my maternal grandmother had blonde hair and blue eyes, and so does someone on Dave's dad's side (I forget who), and that meant that two recessive genes came together and caused the blonde hair and blue eyes. No biggie - just a science lesson!

Hmmm...maybe next time I'll just say "the milkman" and let the rumors fly!!!!!!!! It's a stupid question right up there with, "So is he a good baby?"

OH goodness I hate hearing "Is he a good baby?" If I look happy and well rested, yes then I say he is good. If I look like I need a nap or may rip your head off, then he probably has some slight issues. Its right up there with "Are you having anymore?" Geez, why dont you take a seat and wait and see if this body is going to pop out anymore... LOL!

I'd say Nathan came from the mailman, except ours is an Asian female!

I don't like using the term "good baby". I might ask (depending on how well I know the person), "Is he an easy going baby or is he more challenging?" Some babies are more challenging then others, and sometimes the mom does want to open up and talk about it.

Around here at least, when people ask me that they want to know if he is an easy going good sleeper or a cranky, needy baby who keeps you up all night.

When people ask me that, my answer is always, "Have you ever seen a BAD baby?" That is always followed by stuttering and a change in subject ;-)

Reminds me of my other answer which was "Well the milkman's ginger, so it can't be from him!"

Well, we were supposed to visit Nana today, but last night my brother's nanny for their 1 year old quit with zero notice (her husband is dying of cancer but she's known that for a while). So, they are flying my mom down today to help out as both bro and SIL are in a really tough spot at work and it's not a good time to take off for either of them.

I'm gonna miss spending time with my mom, and my mom has stuff going on here, too. But it's family.

Will you guys go to my blog and look at pictures of Elias' rash and let me know if you've seen anything like this and what it was? The post is here.

He woke up like this this morning. The doctors are guessing so far and had blood drawn for an allergy panel and CBC today. We're waiting for results.

Nathan would break out with some pretty bad rashes, not to unlike that one, just in response to a virus. He got steroids for it, but in a baby that young, I agree with your doctor's precautions.

Yikes, Julie! I have no idea, but am glad your doctor is being proactive. I have a friend who has a bunch of little red heads and they ALL have serious gluten and other allergies.

Praying...

Sharon.....my response may would be..."Really...hmm I figured God knew what He was doing when He made my son this way.....I'll be sure to tell Him to take your comment under advisement."

I get the opposite response on mine..they are always larger....

Why can't people just let kids grow at their pace (as long as they are growing) and stay out of it?

WOW Julie...I am praying for you and Elias. I haven't ever seen a rash quite like that.

Is the pollen count or anything else really high right now where you live? or have you changed lotions or bathing supplies lately?

I am sorry the little guy had to have blood drawn already....
