Both. I love April Fool's Day. Not only is it accepted to play (nice) tricks on people, but it's encouraged!

I was telling someone the other day that I had a neat surprise.......of course, I was about to tell her about my daughter J being pregnant, and she said "you're pregnant!"

For those few who don't know me, I've been celibate for almost ten years. Pregnant?

I'm guessing the look on your face was enough to get that point across...

There's precedent.

Bearing children at an older age has precedent also.

So, yesterday, same friend posts that she's feeling sick. I couldn't resist asking: "Morning sickness?"

I'm so bad!

Wouldn't it be funny if she found out she really is pregnant?

That would be ironic. And I'm guessing it would be the end of the April Fool's jokes...

Well, she has a cough, so I guess she's not pregnant!

I'm in a serious mood today, which isn't good for a party thread, is it? Guess I should sing, "It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to!"

Not that I feel like crying, exactly. Just that I wrote a serious blog entry today, and it's gotten me thinking about spin-off entries for future dates. I see trends in the evangelical church that deeply disturb me, and sometimes I want to address them. But I'm not sure if that blog, which is supposed to be a museum, is the correct place for more than an occasional post on such matters.

Great blog entry, Deb. I needed to read that. I'm also very concerned about where the modern church is heading.

I have to share about my most memorable April Fool's Day. It was early one morning and my family had just gotten up but hadn't even looked out the window yet to see what kind of day it is. My uncle, only a few years older and living just down the road, came in to our house exclaiming that it had snowed. We, of course, knew what day it was so we couldn't be convinced. He kept telling us over and over that it really HAD snowed, but it never snowed past the first of March around here and we weren't fools.

It really had snowed...

Bet you felt foolish then, didn't you?

Sue, I think maybe God is separating the wheat from the tares. Hope so.

I got an email from a friend yesterday. Her daughter, who recently told me that she'd gotten right with the Lord, is living with a guy. Same daughter is teaching Sunday School. Huge disconnect! The mom thinks the church will have her stop teaching soon. I should hope so! John and I have known this girl since she was 13, and it's sad to see her make such poor choices!

Sorry for bringing the party down. I do want to have fun here. But I've been in a sober mood this weekend. Maybe play would do me good!

Okay, I just visited Rachel's thread, and she had posted a comment about using up Internet space. Her comment triggered memories of the Seinfeld show, which was a show about nothing. Didn't it run for ten seasons or something? How do you get ten seasons from nothing?

But wouldn't it be fun to see how much we can post in here about nothing?

A church which calls Jesus their Lord, and claims to believe that the Bible is the Word of God, needs to take great care in who is allowed to teach or lead.

I left a church when I learned the woman who had become the first female head of the board of deacons was was living with her boyfriend.

If a church allows unmarried people who are nevertheless going to bed together to teach in the church, their students and others in the church will get the message that fornication isn't sin. It's just personal preference. Sad. Disturbing.

Posting about nothing?

I'll have to think about that...

OK...I thought about it.

I didn't come up with anything, though.

So I guess for the time being I won't be able to post about nothing.

What can I say about nothing, anyway? There's not much material there? And yet, Got created everything out of nothing!

It's been years since I've read Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing." I can't even remember the story. Does that mean it meant nothing to me?

I was wondering how I could post about nothing when my mind is constantly thinking about something. At times I'm thinking about the business I'd like to open, while other times I'm thinking about the test that I have coming up in whatever subject I'm being tested in this week. There are still other times that I am thinking about the message God is giving me to preach, and then there are times that I'm thinking about what I'd like for dinner.
So how do I post about nothing? I'm going to have to work on this...

Well, maybe we should just write thoughtless posts, then.

Though it takes lots of thought to write about nothing, don't you think?

I'm accused of being thoughtless all the time... Well, not all the time, but quite a bit.
