The results of the NTSB on the Big Dig tunnel collapse, plenty to blame. This story came out yesterday and has been on my mind. One year after the tunnel collapse of the Infamous Big Dig, the glue expoxy was to blame, as well as bad oversight on many levels. The Big Dig project, the most expensive public project in U.S. history, still couldn't get it right.

I have been experiencing a sense of satisfaction in my life of late. Getting to travel about and finally doing things that I like to do has been a big plus! However, I am still not too happy with my job though. There just seems to be too much to do at a short moments notice. I can only handle about 8 hours of work, after that I get burned out. I am looking into other possibilities, just have to wait on God's timing. I still would like to get out of Boston, however I am not in nearly as much of a rush as I once was. One thing is true, people seem just plain friendlier in other parts of the country! Moving on, I am listening to The Best of The Alarm on my CD player right now. They are arguably the best rock/alternative band of the 80's!

My computer broke on me this week. It still works, however it is now only displaying 640x480 resolution with 16 bit color. I can safely attest that I am getting used to this. I did try fixing it however it hasn't worked at all. I had a rather tough week this week. I feel today was the first day where I was able to relax.

As I sit here Tuesday evening, I am here relaxed and listening to one of my all time favorite Vineyard CD's, "More Love, More Power". It is a Double Compilation CD that consists of the best of "Touching The Fathers Heart" and "Winds of Worship". One of the songs on the CD is a melody called "You Are God". It talks about God's Sovereignty. I take a special affinity to this tune because it was recorded at the Framingham Vineyard in Massachusetts. It can also be found on the "Winds of Worship, Live From New England", not to mention the "WOW Worship Orange" CD as well. In a couple of weeks, all the students will be coming back to Boston as well as new Freshman going to college. This is an interesting (read crowded and bustling) time as not only students but parents are in Boston this giving weekend as well. I am looking to avoid all of that if I can and am planning some type of trip. Speaking of trips, I purchased the Frommer's Book "San Francisco from 70's Dollars A Day". Now I have already in my possession Frommer's San Francisco '93 and Fodor's San Francisco '93 as well, however I thought that it was time for an update. It has a new writer but the hotels that were reviewed back when are still around and still getting good reviews in there! Some have changed their names since then but it still amazes me none the less the bargains that still exist, albeit much more expensive than back then when I paid just $60 for a room.

I went to San Francisco this past weekend. It was my second time there. My first time visiting was back in 1993. While some things have changed since then, a real lot remained the same. One thing that I couldn't help but notice was how crowded Union Square was, and yet I did not feel at all like I was people dodging, something that happens in Boston quite often. People just do not seem as much as in a hurry there at all. I stayed at a very nice and cheap (well by today's standards anyway) hotel. The staff was quite friendly and my room while small was very clean and nice! I was right on the cable line to boot! Speaking of which, I rode the cable cars this time often enough where I can safely say that for a mode of transportation they are very slow not to mention crowded as well! Getting to and from San Francisco I relayed completely on Public Transportation except for when I left my house to the airport because it was not running yet. After doing some run around and getting my bearings, I found using Public Transportation quite easy if not the cheapest way to get to and from the airport at both ends. I think in the future I might take a cab from the BART station after I get downtown though, it would just be easier that way. I didn't do a whole lot while there, just relaxed for a long weekend and rode the Cable Cars plus took a boat tour as well. Because my trip didn't cost me much because of a free Arline I will safely say that the trip served my purposes. Had I paid $300-$400 for airfare, then I would say that I missed out. All and all I enjoyed my trip. I am all ready to plan my next excursion, perhaps to Seattle?

It's been a productive night in forums for me this evening. Usually Wednesday nights are slow. Be sure to check out my latest thread Ask Me Anything! in Personally For You.

Well, it is the amost the end of the year, and I bet you are all wondering, "Mike, were your favorite songs to come out this year?" Well, I can narrow them down to about 5 songs: They are (in no exact order): Bubbly-Colbie Callait 1234-Feist Rock Star-Nickleback Suddenly I See-KT Tunstall How To Save A Life-The Fray Again, this is only a preliminary list. As far as Christian music, I do not have as many songs as I do artists. I give credence to both Natalie Grant and Ginny Owens. They both make my list this year. I also give credit to Michael W. Smith as well. In an upcoming blog I will recap how my year has been.

Remembering Karla Faye Tucker... Warning, graphic posting. Last night I saw a documentary on her and it reminded me of her legacy. For those who don't remember, she was the first woman in Texas on death row for heinously murdering 2 people with an axe! During her stay in prison she converted to Christianity. Her story made national news because she was on death row but the big question was whether she should be offered mercy or not? I believe as many others that she genuinely did become born again. She was one of the classic conversions. It was said that she was a comfort to others as opposed people being a comfort to her. She was executed back in 1998. Forums were still in their infancy then, and if a news story of that nature were to happen today, forums would be buzzing! I cannot adequately describe the detail of this woman's past life and legacy, however it was on my mind and wouldn't mind discussing it in forums, however I wouldn't want it to digress into a pro or anti death penalty rant. A different thread that I have started has had some similar implications and do not wish to digress to the same subject as the one above. I am gonna post a link to my response thread, which hasn't had many postings in a while. Please feel free to post your thoughts on Karla Faye Tucker or any thoughts in general as well.

Well, its been a long while since I last posted here. Fritz sent an email to all the bloggers, so I thought that this might be a good time to get things back up and active again. As some of you know, I hurt my back at work a few weeks ago. It looked like I was gonna be out of work for a while, but within hours of sending out a prayer request, my job called me back! Fast forward to today and my back is back to its normal self, and I find myself fighting with the boss about not wanting to work overtime again! I am also a worry-wot, I tend to worry about everything, sometimes days on end only to find out that it was for not! I have also developed a new nervous bad habit, I seem to be grinding my teeth a whole lot more these days. It makes my teeth hurt! I think this has a lot to do with work and the stress dealing with it. I have improved there a bit, but I still find myself daily asking God to take away all anxiety and stress and to trust in Him. He also reminds me in the midst of all this that He is on my side and that I shouldn't worry! For how can anyone add a day to his life by worrying? I need to learn how to trust. If you know how to do this then let me know.

Last Friday I hurt my back at work again. This time it was lifting a case of 100# paper, which is very heavy stuff! I have been to the Dr's 3 times since then, and they said that I am making progress but to take one more day off. When I do go back on Monday, I will be on light duty. I met with my boss this morning and he isn't very happy with it at all. I do feel that God is asking me if I trust Him in all of this or not? The short answer is that I am having a tough time trusting Him, however if that is what He put on my heart then that is what I must do instead! In the meantime, I will just relax more and catch up here in forums instead. I do not like being home doing next to nothing, however this is just how it is at the moment.

I was raised Catholic, but met Jesus when I was 14 and was introduced to the Charismatic movement through the Catholic church and also first found out about CCM music as well. In 1988, I felt some convictions, idols in my life. Found myself in a life of condenmation and by 1990 I walked away from church. While I never forgot Jesus, I wasn't in church and wasn't looking to move forward either, all the while fully knowing that going into the world would not bring happiness either. I was very miserable and angry! In 1994, things got progressively worse, and I prayed saying "Jesus, I would like to come back, but I do not you want me back." Within 2 months of that, strange twist of circumstances, a friend of mine in the building that I was living in found out about Jesus. At that point I had to make a decision to say "yes, I believe in Jesus too" or pretend that I didn't know. I decided to let him know that I knew Jesus too! Then as things progressed, someone had a word for me saying that I needed to experience God's grace! Someone else had the same word for about 2 years before as well! I then repented and went back to church, but still trying to cope with my anger. I found a new church, and in the beginning it was good! Then there were certain things that the leadership and I didn't see eye to eye on and I found myself in another conflict. I ended up leaving that church and going to a different one instead. It was much quieter and I found myself "healing" from the previous issues that I was having with people at church. In about the year 1999, I had phenomenal growth in the Lord and with fellowship, etc. This turned out to last only about a year or so though as the friend that I was hanging out with turned out to be unhealthy for me, and perhaps him as well. That friendship peaked and had a falling out and I found myself fending on my own again. Around 2002 I felt that church was just barely meeting my needs and stopped going to church. Then in 2003, a lot of things started going wrong in my life and I found myself very angry again. By 2004, things continued to be bad. Then I was more or less forced to seek counseling. This has been one of the best things for me! I have been working on going back to church on a regular basis as well. I am much calmer and happier now too. I continue to seek and try to follow Jesus as well. I hope you enjoyed reading my testimony. I hope that it is a blessing to you. Blessings, Mike

I was watching an epsiode Wife Swap on TV earlier. I was all but ready to change the channel when it turned out to be a couple of Christians switching homes. One is a conservative SAHM, and the other one is more of a corporate type. Anyway, it has been rather interesting so far, but kinda frightening too! The frightening part is the corporate, should I say liberal minded mom said that the conservative family was "brainwashing" their chidren. Meanwhile, the conservative mother made the liberal father cry by what she was saying also. To be honest, I just do not understand the later but the earlier comments scare me! I have a vacation coming within 2 weeks, I am still trying to decide where to go. I have thought about Atlanta, but not so sure I want to venture into a city that I have never been to right now. My second choice is Washington DC, however it could be a little boring for me (too Northeastern.) I am contemplating just forgoing both and just taking a couple of day trips instead, but we'll see.

I have a confession to make, I am overweight, ok fat, but just in the gut. The rest of my family doesn't have this issue but I do. The ironic thing is that I used to be seriously underweight during my teen years. I was told at the time that metabolism slows down as you age, this has turned out to be true. I also do not walk as nearly as much as I used to. The funny thing also is I really do not eat a lot. In fact I get full quite quickly when eating out at a restaurant. I guess the problem is the things that I do eat, along with certain medications that I take for medical reasons as well. Everything lately has been pointing to me needing to lose weight. Everything from back problems to my Dr. telling me to just shows that I need to. The only thing is that I am not just yet ready to give up junk food. I do need to find exercise that helps, but I have not come up with anything yet. Perhaps suggestions would help.

With recent events in the news and with things being posted in forums I just thought I would remind everyone that: God is still in control of all things. He hasn't left the throne at all and is still Sovereign.
