I cried the whole way in to the hospital today. That's the first time I have cried while driving, and it wasn't a hysterical cry...I just couldn't stop. Dearest Donna, There is healing in our tears. I've heard of studies done where they have measured 'something' in the tears (I can't remember now what it was) and as one website put it... Unlike tears caused by eye irritants, emotional tears contain abundant amounts of adrenaline and other stress-related chemicals. If you didn't cry, you'd be holding in all of those stress related chemicals. Psalm 56:8 You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?

I was thinking this same sort of thing. This kind of crying (bawling really) is stress relieving. And like other things, it's not healthy not to relieve it.

So it SHOULD have been Brian that got all the coverage--man gets in wreck, body nearly destroyed, but heart clearly intact! Nah...we have plenty of coverage. More than Brian would probably like, actually. He's not a spotlight kind of person. His heart is definitely intact though, and I can only imagine the kind of things God is working on the inside of him through this. He already seems stronger spiritually, more focused...same old Brian still...but different, if that makes sense. I don't think something like this can help but change you. I finally got pictures of the car today and showed Brian. The first two times I went, the batteries died in my camera even though they had just been charged...must have not been time for him to see it yet. He was pretty shocked, but not upset by seeing them. It's one of those heaps you just know no one came out of alive, if you didn't know that he DID! Pain control was great today. He timed the meds perfectly for physical therapy and otherwise kept them to every 6 hours instead of the every 4 he can have them. He just got a new roommate this afternoon. A very professional looking man (and his wife) who had a brain aneurysm and now can barely walk or talk. His name is James, if you want to pray for him. Very sad... One more night. Then my sweetie will be home.

Pictures...car, accident site, and Brian's injuries. (Warning...there is a hip/butt shot that shows his hip surgery.) I don't have pictures of his arm yet because SIL was there when they unwrapped it and put the cast on. I will take some when the cast comes off, but I was told there are staples in an L-shape from mid humerus all the way down the forearm.

How are YOU doing today? Pretty good. The kids were with Brian's ex-stepdad's new wife, and she is great with them. I've noticed my worst days tend to be when the kids are with someone I am not totally comfortable with...when they are somewhere I know they are okay, I can focus more on what needs doing. A little nervous about tomorrow. What if the bed/wheelchair/etc doesn't come in time? I tried to convince them to deliver all that stuff today, but insurance won't pay for a hospital room and equipment rental on overlapping days. Pray it all gets here and set up before we need it. It would not be good for him to get here and be stuck in the van while they figure it out. They are supposed to be here at 10:30 and he is supposed to be discharged at 11...the hospital is a bit over an hour away. A lot nervous about how the kids are going to do, and how Brian will do with their excitement that he is home. They won't be here when he gets here, but my mom will bring them over about dinner time. Excited to find a new normal, and to have everyone here under one roof again. But also afraid of the new normal...because there's so much we don't know how it will all go. God has it in control, I know, and we'll make it through. quote:
he was shocked that Brian is doing as well as he is!!! (Especially the view of the driver's side ...) Yeah. Thankfully, that was not the side I saw when I was at the scene. The passenger side, with the top peeled back was bad enough. Brian isn't sure about getting another Subaru, but I think the car did a pretty good job (with God!) for such a massive hit to the driver side. I'm all for getting another.

LOL, Sarah...it *was* a 1997 Subaru Impreza. I am really impressed with how it held up, especially since it was a pretty old one, KWIM? Brian wants to enlarge the one of the driver side, as a reminder that God has a reason for him to be alive, even when it hurts. I'm not sure about doing that...but I am overcome with thankfulness that he is ALIVE whenever I look at the pictures. And his bone issues are really, really minor compared to what could have been. We've seen that clearly being on the IP rehab unit. Going up to sort some baby clothes now. I probably want to wash some before the baby is born, huh? After I sort, I'll go to bed.

Wow, Donna...that's pretty amazing!!! All I could say looking at some pictures was Ow, OW, OWWWWWW!!! ((((hugs)))) and continued prayers.....he's coming home tomorrow! Praise God! Hope the transition goes smoothly for y'all!!! P.S. I'm all for Sabarus, Toyotas, Hyundais, etc. They seem to be built better for some reason. I totaled a 1996 Toyota Camry years ago & came away with only minor scratches and bruises.

Donna, didn't you have a dr's appointment today? How did that go? Try not to worry about the equipment...they do this all of the time, it will all be fine. Is anyone going to be there to help you get him into the house the first time in?

Donna, didn't you have a dr's appointment today? How did that go? Yeah....BP is high, basically right at the cutoff for what they don't like. Baby also had a massive growth spurt and I am measuring a week overdue, instead of the 4 weeks to go that I am. Those things combined with me needing to arrange someone to stay with Brian have convinced my otherwise very natural-minded CNM (certified nurse midwife) that induction is the way to go for this one. I'll have an ultrasound Tuesday to assess baby's size, and then we'll decide on a date, it sounds like. She actually even offered me the option of a combo c-section/hysterectomy, since we're doing that in a couple/few months anyway, but I don't think I'm up for that right now, so I declined. quote:
Is anyone going to be there to help you get him into the house the first time in? Yes, Ellie Mae's hubby will be here and I have a couple other guys on standby if we need them. No way was I going to try to get him in by myself that first time! It's day 20! Today, at 10 am will be 480 hours since his accident (if I'm figuring right). 480 hours that God didn't have to give us with Brian, and though many of those hours have been long and hard, I thank God for every single one of them. I can't wait to start counting hours at home though.
