Funny for the day...

Brian just got out of the shower. I forgot to get his clothes out. He asked me, "Honey, would you like to get me some clothes?" I answered, "Nope, I wouldn't." And here I sit typing.

Hehe...

Donna, it doesn't sound like you did anything wrong at all. I would have been apalled at what that officer did. That's ridiculous.

oh donna. how rude. That's just...TOSviolation...

And that is funny about Brian.

Need another funny?
Justin is out of town until tonight, he sent me a picture from his phone of a sign in his room.
''unlock door before entering''

Ponder that.

(((Donna))) - that officer was totally wrong! I'm glad others told you that right then & there! I'm sure he's had to deal with people not controlling their children, but he definitely overreacted! Sorry you had to get the brunt of it from him.

Your funny reminded me of a conversation with dd the other day. She said that when parents ask you if you'd like to do something it really means to just do it! I told her that I would try really hard to not ask if she'd like to do something & just tell her to "do it" from now on!

Donna, I have always felt like some people will use their authority to belittle others, and in this case, this officer did just that. Shame on him! I have always hated going into the building where you apply for/get assistance because I feel like the people who work there hate you for trying to get help or it's almost like they get giddy over telling you there's nothing they can do for you (seems like you had a better experience with your counselor). I have had to get assistance a time or two over the years and I dreaded those appts. There are always exceptions to the rule, but for the most part, they must get their employees from the same pool as the DMV or the local Goodwill stores - they all seem to hate people in general.

Amybreit, my boys have said the same thing to me! They also told me that they don't understand why I ever say "maybe" when that almost always means 'NO' LOL!

So...Brian's femur is healing well according to the doctor. I didn't see a whole big chunk of new bone like I thought I would, but the doctor was happy, so I guess I'll be happy?

Brian will be having surgery soon to take the screw out of his femur, near his knee. It's rubbing on a muscle and causing a good deal of pain. Tentative surgery date is July 31st. They will have to go under his kneecap again, to get the end cap off the rod before they can pull the screw out. Hopefully that won't be as bad as his last femur surgery, since they won't have to move the rod at all.

In the ortho waiting room, we met a very nice Army soldier with a busted knee and had a fascinating conversation with him and also with an Iraqi whose life was saved by an American soldier and then he was brought here for continuing medical care. I didn't know we (as a country) did that! The Iraqi was a teacher and told us that most Iraqis are thankful for what the US is doing in their country, excepting the "ones who like guns". We meet such interesting people in all these waiting rooms!

This 4th of July is so very different from last year. I can't wait for it to be over. I'm very emotional today and I don't like it.

Off to cookout with my family...happy face, happy face...

Donna, I'm praying for you today. . . it must be difficult to put on a happy face when you don't feel up to it, but I'm praying that God will comfort you and give you joy in your heart, too!

Happy 4th of July!

Thanks. I'm pretty good at the happy face game with family. But at church today, no less than three people asked me if I was okay, and in a way that I knew they knew I wasn't. You know, I want to be just sailing through this stuff. But on the other hand, I also just want freedom to have a bad day here and there without people worrying about me.

Lots of plans this week. Tomorrow is Brian's birthday. We pick Nick up in the afternoon and then Brian's family is coming over to celebrate (aka...EAT! LOL) with us. Wednesday, I'm meeting up with someone I knew from school who is going to be homeschooling this fall. Thursday, Esther has a doctor's appointment (shot time...yay). Friday, Sandy is supposed to be coming to visit (can't wait!!) Saturday is a men's breakfast at church, and also the county fair demolition derby. Still deciding if I want to take the kids by myself to that, or if we even have the money. We'll see...

Prayer need...Thursday our sweet Caragen will be having surgery to replace the missing skull bone with some hi-tech plastic thingy that will grow with her head. Her surgery is scheduled at noon and will be at least a couple hours long. She should be in the hospital a day or two after that. Pray for her Daddy too...he is still in jail and I'm sure it will not be an easy wait for him, being unable to be there. And her Mommy, of course...as a mom, I just can't imagine my child having to go through all of this...
