I've often asked myself if there was a fire what I would grab. All I can think of is Toby and my purse. I really can't think of anything else.
Financially, everything is in my purse (except checkbooks, but there is my debit card). And I also have a Bible in my purse.

I have been in fires before, what I instinctively grabbed was my wallet and my keys, not to mention that I was wearing a pair of pants and a shirt also.

I think that in a fire my list might look different! Although kids would come first...As much as I love my bible, I can always get another. I still would grab my blackberry...lots of important information in it.
I have a folder downstairs in a file cabinet that has important papers in it...if I could, I'd try to grab that if everyone was out.
And of course there are the pets...the dog would probably zoom out the door on her own, but the rats are helpless in their cage: we'd have to try to get them.
That's a little changed from moving.
I've thought about getting a second, portable hard drive to put our pictures on. My daughter is an amazing amateur photographer, and there are a million or so pics on our hard drive that are priceless. In a fire, I could just grab the portable hard drive.
We've had a tiny little bit of rain here! Yay! I'm still watering this morning, on my day, but the forecast says scattered thundershowers all weekend: maybe we'll get some of it!
It was sad to discover that one the 60 foot tall pine trees in our neighbors yard is dying because of drought. They are the tallest trees in the area, and have been there for years. The owls roost in them and the wind sounds so wonderful blowing through them. My neighbor was out fertilizing, trying to save it.

1-God is omni-present.
2-God does care about the intimate details in our lives!
3-I believe in Pre-destination.

I, too, believe in predestination. I can't make my life and scripture add up any other way.

Hi Shallbe! I think that God is once again showing me to not worry and not to just automatically assume the worse about people, when it seems like they have done wrong. It might turn out to be nothing at all, and something external beyond ones control instead.

That's a good lesson to learn, Mike...I struggle to keep that perspective myself.
Isn't it cool how God doesn't give up on us and just keeps teaching and teaching patiently?

Yes Shallbe, that is really cool! Forgiveness has been on my mind this week, that is what is real forgiveness and what is it not? Then I go to church this morning and what is the sermon on? forgiveness!

That very thing has happened to me many times, Mike. God does exist, and He does answer prayer, especially those prayers asking for help and wisdom in following him.

Alright;
It's been awhile, but we need a new question in here...
Please tell about a funny experience you have had.
We laugh a lot in our family, but also since we all work with children in one way or another there are funny experiences and stories that come home frequently to get discussed around the dinner table.
Recently I had a rehearsal with two of my flute students together, and we were all working on Frosty the Snowman as a flute trio. These two students had never had the chance to play with other flutists together, and we had a lot of fun.
At the end of our time one of them looked at me with a huge smile on her face and said "Is it really time to go? It seems like we've only been here 5 minutes!"
Ok, so that's not so funny exactly, but cute and also made me feel great that she was so inspired having such a good time with her music.

I'll do the same: Do you NOT believe in Free Will? Do you therefore believe in predestination? That our lives are planned by God and we don't make any choices?
Yes, I believe that God created the Heavens and the Earth and man. I created my children, but I don't and can't make them do MY will.
No thank you, I don't like coffee. I'll drink my Diet Sierra Mist. However, I do not like to argue or even get in a heated debate. I have too much stress in my life as it is.

Since scripture both supports the concept of free will and also the concept of predestination to the point that God controls every movement of every atom of the universe, I must conclude that God is indeed in control of everything, yet without infringing upon our free will--which is even more awesome than the "black and white" idea that either there is free will OR God is a monster. 
Here are a very few of the scriptures that support this doctrine. I have added italics for emphasis:
Ezra 7:18-19 (ESV)
18 Whatever seems good to you and your brothers to do with the rest of the silver and gold, you may do, according to the will of your God.
19 The vessels that have been given you for the service of the house of your God, you shall deliver before the God of Jerusalem.
Romans 9:14-24 (ESV)
14 What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means!
15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.
17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”
18 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.
19 You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?”

I pondered your analogy, that you "created" your children. Actually, however, you did not create them. Create means to make something out of nothing. Yet that is not what happened when you became pregnant. In fact, the Bible clearly states that God knits us in our mother's wombs  ...
So that analogy doesn't fit. 
I have no intention of arguing or getting into a debate. I will again ask you, that if you have information based upon scripture that tells me more about God, I truly, sincerely want to know. Since the only way God has given us to know about him is through scripture, we can only rely on that source for information...that is why I am asking for scripture to support each concept about Him.
Can we then have a congenial, informed, gracious conversation about God so that I can learn more about Him? 
If not, that's ok. But you're welcome any time here in the Belfry.

When I was 8 years old, my big brother from the big brother organization had me over to his families house for dinner. There were several members of his family there. The food that I had been eating all night I did not like at all.
Finally I decided that I would have some salad. Now you cannot go wrong with salad. I took one bite of it and said "this salad tastes awful, what did you put in it, vinegar?" They said well, yes! While it wasn't funny at the time, it still to this day lives down in history!

What I have asked is not a "challenge". In fact, I am only trying to answer questions you yourself asked in the other thread. Yet you are acting as if I have attacked you?
This is my last attempt to explain and get this conversation started: if you really want me to answer your questions, I can do that, but it takes two people to have a conversation. Your posts are coming across very snarky and you seem offended at me, yet I've done nothing but offer you some conversation about Someone we both claim to love very much.
You seem to be quite sure about God. I have discovered that He is infinite, and that there is always more to know about Him. So while what you know may not be new to you, it may be new to me, and I love to know more about this glorious God.
That is my answer to your most recent question. It is not a challenge, though if you feel challenged, I would have to wonder why...isn't God a worthy subject for conversation?
If you do not consider Him so, then that is a sad and dangerous condition in which to be, but I completely understand, and will not further pursue the conversation.

Hi teacher! I'm a teacher as well. :)
I don't have any platitudes to share with you, nor do I think that you'd want to read them anyway. Sometimes it helps to lash out in order to release some of the pain and hurt.
