It is pronounced like the first syllable of "garage" only with an e sound.
That probably doesn't make much sense, but I can't think of another word with that sound.
I have to say I like that but can see where you would get it mispronounced. My eldest is named Colin but gets "Cole-lyn" a lot. I think because of the popularity of Gen. Powell. Our last name gets murdered too...We get "pole-lard" instead of short "o". So..he gets frustrated a lot when he gets both names pronounce with long "O" instead of the short "O"!
