Daniel I know you respect your elders, but I'm only 21 years old. Again you don't have to put the Mr. in front it really makes me feel old. And I know you were raised that way.

hee....hee...

That's funny!

It has been an adjustment to me to (sometimes) (trying to) call older people by their first name on their online forums. Sometimes I make myself do it, but I'll almost never do it in person.

Sony is about the oldest person I still use first names for. (And if she was married, I'd probably call her Mrs. ***. )

That's alright Daniel...just means you were raised right. Wish more parents did...it would make life easier on those of us who try to instill manners in our kids.

If I was referring to you by your real name, I probably would online (and definitely would in person). When I'm using a Internet username, though, I typically use just that, instead of Mrs. zmanfan38 or Mr. youngartist or Mr. Amerigrandpa. Of course, it would be tough to call the last gentleman in question by his last name!

Like Daniel, I was raised to respect my elders as well . . . but since y'all keep insisting that I'm older than all of y'all and even older than a few granules of dirt, y'all hafta respect ME . . . since I'm y'all's elder and all.

I wanna use the same math you are, Bobby! Actually, I started counting backwards when I was 25 years old - but that stopped working when I hit zero!!!

LOL. Dinana started going backwards when we hit 30 (I sent her 30 roses that day... 12 and then another 12 and then 6!!! It was a lot of fun!! ).
Oh, that would have left me high for a week! What a great way to send flowers, Donna!

Hey Sam...I didn't know you were so talented!
I just read over in Kerr's thread how you sent a message to Sharon-Marie via telepathy through Kerr!!! I'm still cleaning diet pepsi off my computer screen!!!

LOL! I was pretty amazed too.

I'm posting as I'm reading this thread, so I don't know if Sam replied to you yet, Lynn . . . but I hope he got my telepathic message via Kerr asking him to please hush.

So you expect her to marry someone with only three letters in his last name?

Actually this is an interesting discussion. I was just thinking about this. It seems you can offend people either way. In person, I try not to call people anything. (it's easier that way. ) Online, I usually see what everyone else calls them & follow suit. But that can get you in trouble sometimes.
Case in point:
My brother was calling a man he really didn't know well to ask a question about something. The man said, "You should ask my wife, Ruthie. Here's her cell phone, you can call her & ask."
So my brother calls her & says, "Hi, is this Ruthie?"
She answered crisply, "This is Ruth."
My brother: "I, er, uh, that is, your husband said..."

I often follow the practice of not calling people anything, too. In fact, I've gotten good enough at it that some of you I've met in person might not have realized until now that I intentionally and successfully avoided calling you anything!

Well, you could always do like some relatives of mine & call them by their full name, "Daniel J. Mount."

Christi:
I watched part of the Cubs big Monday win on Comcast Sports Chicago yesterday afternoon in an encore presentation. I turned it on just in time to see Z lead off with his double, followed by the Soriano hr. Also saw Z get another hit in the next inning. He may become a regular ph for them when he is not pitching. They did not fare so well last night, so I skipped the encore game this afternoon. If I am watching tv on a weekday afternoon in May, you know the weather must be bad, or I would be really busy outside.

Big Z is a pretty good hitter. Did you know that he wanted to (and almost got to) hit in the home run derby during last years All Star Game?

I did not know that. Knowing his exuberance he probably would have pulled something by over-swinging, and affected his major talent, which is pitching.
Christi: Why do the Cubs want Edmonds? Have they sent Pie back to the minors? If they get Edmonds, will it affect the status of their premier LH ph (imho), Darryl Ward? It will be hard for me to get the mind-set of being an Edmonds fan, after he spent all those years with our chief nemesis, the Cardinals.

My full name is Gerald and that is pronounced with a hard "G" and not a soft one. It is very unusual pronunciation. (And that is why I go by Gary) When strangers pronounce it incorrectly I usually let it go, if I am not going to see them again it is not worth the effort to try to correct them.
