You know you're a 70's kid when... you remember being creeped out by that Charlton Heston movie "Soylent Green". ("It's people!...It's people!")

ORIGINAL: Chrystal-J-007 ^ LOL you know you're a 70's kid when... you can sing a bar of "Seasons in the Sun" We had joy~we had fun...we had seasons in the sun. The song was done by Terry Jacks whom I met on several occasions. What happened to him after Seasons in the Sun? That was such an awesome song!

He would play in bars and other small venues. I last saw him in '94.

The same thing just happened to me: oldest daughter married on 5/30 and moved 1000 miles away. We're making it. She kept her phone, which is on my plan, so we have 24/7 access if we need it, and since her courtship was long distance she is well-versed in webcam/skype. Probably be 6 months to a year before I'll see her again. shallbe

I guess a lot of us 70's kids have kids who are grown ups now. I have one. He's nineteen and still lives at home, going to college. I'm glad he hasn't moved out yet! I am so not ready for that!

You know you're a 70s kid when you remember the battle with your parents about NOT wearing socks with your sneakers. When I tried to wear my sneakers sans socks, you would have thought I was killin' someone.

I taught my dd how to do the hand jive the other day. I can't remember if that was 70s or 80s, but it was fun. If you do it to the song on the Grease soundtrack, you get quite a workout.

Not sure but I think that the Hand Jive was during the 80's instead. I just remember the George Thorogood recording the song "Willie and the Hand Jive." I do believe it was a remake though.

I missed the hand jive somehow, whether it was the 70's or the 80's. My daughter showed it to me. She learned it when she was going to be in a school play set in the 50's. From this thread, I think her play must have gotten it way wrong.

You saw the movie "Play Misty for Me" at the theaters. (And later saw the rip-off: Fatal Attraction)

If it was from the 70's or 80's, it wasn't from the 50's, so it was inaccurate to put it in a play set in the fifties. But my dd loved it anyway!

I guess it wouldn't have really belonged in the movie Grease either. That was the first place I saw it.

(And later saw the rip-off: Fatal Attraction) Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong movies, but I don't think they were that similar. They're pretty similar in my opinion. They even reference the same play (Miss Saigon). (The guy talks about it in Fatal Attraction and the woman in Misty.) Both women try to kill themselves to keep the guy (and in both the guy sits with her all night to make sure she's ok...but, doesn't call an ambulance). Both women go after someone close to the guy to try to hurt him . (In Fatal Attraction, the wife. In Misty, the girlfriend.) In both the woman also tries to "get close" to the wife/girlfriend. (In Fatal Attraction the woman tries to buy the old apartment from the wife and in Misty the woman becomes the girlfriend's new room-mate.) Both women get killed in the end by the guy after they attack the wife/girlfriend. There are some differences, but the main plot line is the same. But, personally, I like Misty better. you know you're a 70's kid when .... you had some of those suede boots (that went to the knee) with fringe around the top.
