It is always good to look at things in perspective! I've been realizing that it's silly for me to be upset over not getting pregnant after a few tries. My problem is that I've always gotten pregnant very easily. Evangeline was a first try, my second pregnancy was a first try, and my third was a complete surprise. It's just driving me crazy that all of a sudden it's not happening as quickly. Right now I'm just gonna focus on being as healthy as I can and getting my body straightened back out so that hopefully when it finally does happen I will carry to term.

wow - you are blessed! its never come easy for me and i truly doubt that i will ever be "suprised" with a pregnancy. glad for the perspective though!

it does feel like a decade we've been trying....although it's only been a year that we've been seriously trying (and really only 2 cycles since the m/c). we were sorta trying several months before that, but not seriously since our DD wasn't really sleeping good yet.

i am really trying to leave this in the Lord's hands and His timing. it's just so heartwrenching to her my little one say "oh my baby would LOVE this!" "mommy can we have a baby at our house? oh yeah, i have to keep asking God, don't I?"

J is 7. He has been asking for a baby brother or sister for years, so I understand. We were truly "surprised" by this pregnancy as we had been trying for 3 years without results...just kind of felt like it wouldn't ever happen. There are a lot of mixed feelings and that is okay. (((hugs))) and prayers...

Lily--hope the US goes well on the 1st. Good luck on the Clomid....it wasn't a medication I enjoyed.

I had some periods like that, thecolonelswife. They were the MOST annoying thing. You would think you would be done and then the stupid thing would come back full-force.

You are welcome to the encouragement any time. What else are friends for?

Well, he isn't happy about it, but doc has given me the go ahead to try again this cycle. OV day is going to be the 5th or 6th. Still having issues with my blood pressure, but like I pointed out to my doc, that could just be something that's going to be a problem for the rest of my life. I don't want to waste time waiting for it to resolve when it might not ever resolve.

Infections gone, blood sugar good, heart healthy.

We are go for launch. . .

That sounds pretty positive, Gracey. I hope your bp cooperates.

Daughter, thanks - the clomid hasn't given me any problems this time. I almost feel like it's not working since I'm not getting the side effects I had the first time I was on it. We'll see at tomorrow's u/s.

CW, sorry about the wacky AF - I'm sure that's so frustrating.

Hi ladies,
I lurked around here a couple years ago and recently remembered the Godly women that I observed. I could really use just a sounding board and some encouragement from people in the same boat, so here I am.

I am 24yo and my husband and I started TTC in April. Prior to that I had been on birth control for almost 10 years due to ovarian cysts (and a cystectomy) when I was 15. This was the first time I had been off birth control since that time.

First of all, I don't even know what "normal" is for me because my periods were so irregular until birth control (probably because I was so young and just started). I had two normal cycles immediately following getting off the Nuva Ring in April and then in July, thought I was pregnant because my period was two weeks late. I never did get a positive test, had a blood test and it was negative as well. My dr said I probably wasn't ovulating and gave me Provera to kick start my period.

Fast forward to now, I am at CD17 and using an OPK. My two "normal cycles" were 31 and 32 days. I still have not gotten a positive OPK and I am worried that I may still not be ovulating. I know it can take a while to start ovulating after birth control, but why would I have two normal cycles and then nothing?? I will have more blood tests done this month (CD 21) to see if I ovulated and to identify possible issues.

Is it possible to have two "normal" periods without ovulating? Is there still a possibility I could ovulate and never have a surge show on the OPK? I have so many questions, and I guess really, the answer to a lot of them is just to wait, but I am really struggling with being patient. I know it has only been a few months, but it sure seems like so much longer! Especially since my best friend who started TTC just after we did is now 10 weeks pregnant.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?? Also, if it doesn't happen for us this month I plan on starting to temp. Any advice on how to get started? I feel completely clueless!!

Thanks for any support and advice you can give!

Christa. . sorry to hear your cycle is still crazy. That's gotta be frustrating.

I'm on CD 14 here so the next few days should be fun *wink wink nudge nudge* I'm skipping the OPK's this month because the past two cycles they have not been particularly helpful anyway. . .I can pretty much tell when I'm gonna ovulate by my CF.

hey we're gonna be cycle buddies again! CD11 here. i think things are getting in position for CF and O - the "girls" feeling all tender, CF, yeah...it's coming. i only have one OPK right now...not sure if i should go ahead and use it or wait until CD13...hm...

AmazedbyGrace, welcome back to CW. Are you temping and charting your cycles? I'm just curious as I couldn't ever get an OPK to cooperate with me, but my charts would suggest ovulation. This would be a tool that could be helpful to determine if you are actually ovulating or not. My cycles came regularly, but it did appear that some cycles were non-ovulatory.

CW--that is exactly how AF makes me feel, lol....it is a roller coaster ride!

Lily--I didn't stop by yesterday, sorry. That stinks that the follicles are still small. Will your RE trigger ovulation with an hCG (I think that is the right word) shot? Or will the RE wait until they are bigger?

GG--do you have PCOS by chance? I'm trying to remember...sorry. Elevated blood pressure can be a symptom of PCOS or a metabolic syndrome, but generally there are other symptoms that accompany it.

dance--good luck--praying the "fun" will result in a BFP. After I stopped charting, I continued to keep track of ovulation by cervical fluids.

Erin--you're in your 2WW, right?

I hope I didn't miss anyone. Starting to get really tired here, so I'll have to come back tomorrow.

Thanks daughter_of_faith.

I haven't started temping and charting. Honestly, the whole thing seems a little overwhelming to me! I have decided I will start trying it next cycle if this one doesn't work out for us. Should I start on my next CD 1 or is there any reason to start sooner?

My OPK definitely wasn't a positive yesterday, but the second line was much darker than it has been. (I even had my hubby look at it without my commentary and he said the same thing -- I know how my brain is capable of playing tricks!!) Is it possible to have a surge without a positive test? I'm just praying that I'm ovulating. Even if pregnancy doesn't happen for us this month, just knowing I have a chance would encourage me a lot!

Good luck to everyone!

Amazed...I never got the OPKs to work for me, but the charting did.

I used Fertility Friend to chart my temps and etc....

To temp, you'll need a basal thermometer (you can find them in the drugstores for less than $10). I always kept mine on the nightstand and would take my temperature as soon as I woke up in the morning (being glad that it had a memory so I didn't have to write the temp down right away and could snooze again if I needed). Really, that's all you need to get started.

The Fertility Friend website also has tutorials to help you read your chart. The basic membership is free, but I never needed anything beyond the basic membership.

Hopefully you can get some answers soon!

I agree with the temping/charting information that FB gave. Fertility Friend is a good resource. You could start charting sooner if you would like; in fact, when you chart, you will see your basal body temperature decrease on the day AF arrives. That's usually when it changed for me. It was somewhat neat to have that idea, so I wasn't always wasting pregnancy tests.

Amazed, charting was great for me. It's so nice to know a little bit about what your body is up to. I thought it would be a real pain to do, but once you get used to it it's no big deal. I agree about Fertility Friend - it's free and you don't have to make your own chart! I also always recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Own Fertility". It's a really great resource.

Daughter, yep, we do the hcg trigger, but he'll wait until the follies are bigger. Please pray that it happens before I go out of town!

Charting was great for me. I too felt overwhlemed at the beginning. But once you get a thermometer, start taking your temp at the exact time every morning, then logging it somewhere, it begins to make sense after a cycle where you can see the spike and fall.

I've done/do OPKs too.

AF due Sunday, I havent temped this cycle. Did do OPKs and our timing was good.

See, that is why temping will never work for me. There is no such thing as the exact same time every morning...LOL. OPK's worked for us. Come on 2 week R&R so we can try again!!! Don't expect that to happen until after the 1st of the year so we have a few months to wait anyhow. I'm not going to bother with OPK's or anything because when he is home I'm sure we are gonna "have fun" regardless of the timing.
