The results of the 2008 election mean a lot of things to a lot of different people. What do those results mean to conservatives? The results do not mean conservative candidates lose elections. Obama got a big slice of the conservative vote, largely because he portrayed himself as a post-ideological as well as a post-partisan candidate - and McCain tried to do just the same thing. Ronald Reagan in 1984 was the last man to run as an unabashed conservative, and he won by the last true landslide in an American presidential election.

President Bush, admired for his personal honor and deep faith, was respected by many conservatives, but he was hardly a conservative himself. No man who nominated Harriett Meiers to the Supreme Court could be considered a true conservative. Anyone who could embrace the vision of Ted Kennedy for our national education policy was not a true conservative. Anyone who could create a new entitlement for prescription drugs was not a true conservative.

Bush was simply a decent man who was not a Leftist Democrat. As McCain found out, being a decent man who is not a Leftist Democrat means nothing at all to the Left. Both men, like Bob Dole and like George H. Bush, are good Americans, admirable people, and men blissfully unaware that the Left is not just waging battles on issues like more socialism but are rather waging war on our entire way of life. Bush, Dole, McCain, and Bush Sr. were not wicked failures because they were not conservatives. They were more like Chamberlain at Munich: They did not grasp the true depth and nature of their adversary and, they thought, their adversary might be reasonable.

I believe that America will not survive the political and social trials that are to come if we are not engaged in the fight to protect our Christian beliefs. The Ten Commandments, written by the hand of God, are our moral compass. Liberalism has slowly worked its way into mainstream Christian denominations. If it were not so we would have been a wiser people and elected a president who shares the same principles found in the teachings of the Great I Am.

Many evangelicals and Catholics voted in to the office of the presidency America's most liberal senator on social issues that concern our children's sexual identity, marriage and the sanctity of human life. All of these extremely important topics appear to be above Barack Hussein Obama's pay grade. What were these Christians thinking?

Interestingly, Dan Morain of the L.A. Times has just discovered that Barack Obama has a pretty thin resume prior to being elevated to the presidency. Between 1993 and '96, Obama, the much-ballyhooed "Constitutional scholar," had only an unusually low 3,723 billable hours of legal work accrued over a four-year stint with his law firm employer Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Gallard. Further, he seems to have worked on but few cases and made little impact commensurate with his reputation. The question I have, of course, is why is the L.A. Times only NOW interested that Obama was "involved in relatively few cases before entering politics"? Where was this investigating before the election?

The Morain piece begins by recounting how Obama has so often made a big deal out of his days as a "civil-rights attorney" claiming it a key ingredient of his early, formative community development years. Yet, Morain finds that there isn't much record proving that Obama did a whole heck-of-a-lot back in those days. (bold mine)

Talk Radio Network host Michael Savage recently pursued a copyright infringement and RICO lawsuit against the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) for allegedly illegally publishing quotes and audio excerpts from the syndicated talk show regarding Islam out of context, and using them for fundraising purposes while damaging the value of Savage’s copyrighted material.



While the initial lawsuit filed by Savage was withdrawn, CAIR attempted to extract attorney’s fees and costs from Savage that totaled close to $200,000.00.

Judge Susan Illston of the U.S. District Court (a Clinton-appointee) ruled in favor of Savage, denying the Islamic lobby group any attorney’s fees or costs. In doing so, she found that Savage’s claim was not frivolous as CAIR claimed.

Cheney, Gonzales and the others will not be arrested, and do not need to appear in person at the arraignment, Presiding Judge Manuel Banales said.

In the latest bizarre development in the case, the lame-duck prosecutor who won the indictments was a no-show in court Wednesday. The judge ordered Texas Rangers to go to Willacy County District Attorney Juan Guerra's house, check on his well-being and order him to court on Friday.

One of the government's witnesses against convicted Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska says he didn't tell the truth on the stand about an immunity deal with the Justice Department in exchange for his testimony. But federal prosecutors said Friday that his current story is the false one.

"I testified to the fact that there was never immunity for me or my family and friends," welder David Anderson said in a November letter to a federal judge placed in court files by Stevens' lawyers. "That is simply not true."

The Justice Department responded quickly, saying the government never made any agreement of immunity for Anderson or any of his family or friends. "Mr. Anderson's statement in his November 2008 letter is not true, and the court is aware that it is not true," government lawyers said.

I read in AT that a statue of bloodthirsty revolutionary Che Guevara has appeared in Central Park in Central Park, so I went to 5th Ave. & 60th street to see it for myself.

The statue is supposed to be on display until, significantly enough, May 1, 2009. It is definitely not a permanent location. This Doris Freedman Plaza is a concrete cobblestone area located just outside the southeast entrance walkway to the park. A mounted poster states the exhibit of three statues, Julius Ceasar, the "Anthropomorphic cabinet woman" (from a Dali painting) and Che Guevera were all inspired by Barcelona street performers. It also says the art display was made possible by the Public Art Fund, the City of New York, the NEA, and the New York Council for the Arts.

The base of the Che statue has some interesting things written on 3 sides. One side has a website address www.elchevive.org ("the Che lives" in Spanish) which is no longer accessible via the internet. Another side says "viva la re-revolution," i.e., long live the re (or new) revolution, in Spanish. The third side says "Seamos Realistes Exijamos Lo impossible." This translates as "We are realistic. We demand the impossible."

The Julius Caesar statue on display at Central Park's entrance has no title name or any comments on its' base, such as "Veni, Vidi, Vici." The statue of the lady also has no base capable of including writing.

But there are three unglamorous tasks that Obama’s national-security team absolutely must deliver on to ensure the viability of the president’s transformational domestic agenda and his prospects for a second term: They must keep Al Qaeda on its heels and off our soil; they must prevent Iraq from blowing up; and they must prevent Afghanistan from blowing up. These are projects Jones understands and for which he has considerable pragmatic experience. If he is stirred at all by the unique historical dimensions of the Obama presidency, as you would have to assume he is, then his training should lead him not to glorify himself in the presidency’s glare, as more than a few other national-security advisers have done, but to act out of a consuming sense of sacrificial duty and devotion. That, at least, is the ethos and doctrine of the Marines.

Senator Charles Schumer of New York said on ABC’s “This Week” program that the package will be between $500 billion and $700 billion. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, of Maryland, said on “Fox News Sunday” that he believed the Inauguration Day goal would be met, but he declined to put a price tag on the bill.

“I think Congress will work with the president elect starting now and will have a major stimulus package on his desk by Inauguration Day,” Schumer said. “I think it has to be deep. My view it has to be between five and $700 billion.”

Washington, DC-November 20, 2008- Today, Reps Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) and William Delahunt (D-MA) sent an official letter to U.S. Pardon Attorney Ronald Rogers, asking for his recommendation to the President for commutation for wrongly imprisoned Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. Several Congressional appeals have been sent directly to the President in the past, however, this is the first attempt to voice support through the “official process.”

“Ramos and Compean have been living in the torture of solitary confinement for almost two years for something they never should have been prosecuted for in the first place,” said Rohrabacher. “We are pleading with the Pardon Attorney to make a favorable recommendation of commutation to the President so he can finally do the right thing by these men and their families. “Mr. President, don’t leave Ramos and Compean behind as you leave the White House.”

Ramos and Compean are currently serving 11 and 12 years sentences, respectively. The letter focuses on the misapplication of 18 U.S.C 924 (c), “discharge of a firearm in commission of a crime of violence,” which was stacked on top of lesser charges and carries a mandatory 10 year minimum sentence.

But when expert readers of the two leading warming-sceptic blogs, Watts Up With That and Climate Audit, began detailed analysis of the GISS data they made an astonishing discovery. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running.

Pitney Bowes is providing all screening, packaging and shipping at no charge, as well as providing thousands of volunteer hours from employees around the country.

Blagojevich arrested; Fitzgerald calls it a 'political corruption crime spree'



Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff, John Harris, were arrested Tuesday for what U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald called a "political corruption crime spree" that included attempts to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama.

Blagojevich and Harris were named in a federal criminal complaint that alleged a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy aimed at providing financial benefits to the governor, his political fund and to his wife, First Lady Patricia Blagojevich.

Blagojevich was taken into federal custody by FBI agents at his North Side home Tuesday morning—one day shy of his 52nd birthday.

The arrests dealt a tumultuous blow to Illinois government, at once raising questions about the leadership of the state and the fate of the open Senate seat—which the governor alone has the power to fill under the state law.

Albany, N.Y. (AP) - Caroline Kennedy told New York's governor on Monday that she's interested in the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton, making her the highest-profile candidate to express a desire for the job.

Democratic Gov. David Paterson will choose the replacement. "She told me she was interested in the position," Paterson said. "It's not a campaign. She'd like at some point to sit down."

Caroline Kennedy's spokesman, Stefan Friedman, declined to comment.

Rough weather in a lot of the country. Ice storms in the Northeast, cold snap in the Midwest. In fact, it was so cold in Chicago, Gov. Blagojevich actually had his hand in his own pockets.

The weather was so bad in Washington, people were throwing snow shoes at President Bush.

A big surprise in the Sunday morning news — Sen. John McCain says he may not support Sarah Palin if she’s around in 2012. Of course the bigger question is, Will McCain be around in 2012?

On his last stop of his last tour of Iraq, President Bush had to dodge some shoes. I was amazed at how nimble he was. I know he’s got a lot of dodging experience from the Vietnam War, but this was pretty slick.

The guy who threw the shoes is now a hero in Iraq. They say he’s shown the world that Iraqis have no masters, but I think what he really has shown the world is that Iraqis have no aim.

CNN Meteorologist Chad Myers had never bought into the notion that man can alter the climate and the Vegas snowstorm didn’t impact his opinion. Myers, an American Meteorological Society certified meteorologist, explained on CNN’s Dec. 18 “Lou Dobbs Tonight” that the whole idea is arrogant and mankind was in danger of dying from other natural events more so than global warming.



“You know, to think that we could affect weather all that much is pretty arrogant,” Myers said. “Mother Nature is so big, the world is so big, the oceans are so big – I think we’re going to die from a lack of fresh water or we’re going to die from ocean acidification before we die from global warming, for sure.”

The buying, selling, and trading of carbon credits will not remove one molecule of CO2 from the atmosphere.

The big buzz in the political world is "cap and trade." What is cap and trade and where did this idea come from?

The cap and trade concept came from the UN's Kyoto Protocols. Cap and trade is based on the flawed premise that anthropogenic activities (humans) are causing global warming by increasing carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. The American Physical Society (APS), which represents nearly 50,000 physicists, has reversed its previous position on climate change. APS editor Jeffrey Marque said, "There is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the ICCP (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably likely to be primarily responsible for global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution." The UN IPCC computer modeling contains numerous exaggerations and extensive errors which led to the global warming hoax.
