Ok, I don't know what is going on. I've had spotting for 5 days now and my period has not started. I'm 9 dpo. I've had some cycles where I spotted a day or two mid-lp, but what is this?? Any ideas?

hmmm...I'd just wait it out and if you get to the point where your period normally comes and it doesn't, pee on a stick.

Didn't you say that your kids had some kind of bug recently? Perhaps all of that and such has messed with this month's cycle for you. Stranger things have happened.

Thanks Sharon. I've been spotting for nearly a week now, with no period in sight. Implantation spotting, I'm sure, would not last this long. I think something is wrong with my progesterone. *sigh* What would you guys do? Would you see a doc about it? I've had spotting before in my lp, some for a few days, but never this long.

If your not trying to get pregnant then I would not worry about it, although spotting like that is super annoying. Maybe it's just because of the new workout schedule?

Could be. However it also, um, inhibits 'other things'. Harumph.

The only reason why I'm a bit apprehensive about this is that I spotted for two years straight when I was a teen. Now a lot of things are different from then, I weigh a whole lot less, eat healthier and exercise regularly, plus I've had two kids and I'm bfing. But still, it brings back those same ol' frustrated feelings.

The nice thing is, I know that having spotting like this is like built in birth control.

You could do some research on Natural Progesterone Cream, it's an easy way to treat a LP defect without birth control pills, which are probably what a doctor is going to tell you to take.

I have never had spotting for a week, so I do not know what I would do. It would take an awful lot to make me go see a doctor.

Hey Macokjc......you said you got pregnant the day before you got your period. Did that period actually come? Was it like a normal period?

I had what seemed like a normal period, starting March 8. Yesterday and today however I have been feeling uber crampy and feeling like another period may be coming. And I'm nervous now that I read your story.

Ugh....am I paranoid or should I pee on a stick?

Oops, sorry...I forgot I posted here so I forgot to check back. I meant to write the day before I was supposed to get my period. I knew the dates well because I got my period at 6 weeks postpartum with my daughter, and we only had sex once that whole month. Surprise - babies that were 11 months
apart. Unfortunately for me, I can't take the wait and see attitude. I am very fertile, and we already have 5 kids. I get extremely sick while pregnant, to the point of not being able to take care of my family.

Has anyone else used the nuva-ring? I am considering switching off of the mini-pill because I am almost done nursing to that. The min-pill makes me feel like I'm pregnant - I get nauseous in the morning, I gained 10 lbs in 2 month - UGH!!!!

The only side effects I felt from nuva ring were a little break through bleeding at the end of the first month and some pregnancy type symptoms that also only lasted the first month. I started losing hair, but I think Ryanne was right and that has more to do with being postpartum than it does with the nuva ring.

Ladies I am still considering a hormonal bc. In the past I had been on Yasmine (about 7 years ago) and then like 14 years ago I was on Ortho-Cept. I don't remember having many problems on the ortho-cept, although I was 16 and no one ever mentioned I was 'difficult'. However, the Yasmine was not so good on me. I had migraines and the first three months was very moody. What other options are there out there? This nuva-ring, was it terrible with the moodiness?

I had Nuva-Ring after I had Matthew for the 1st year, and I loved it! Very comfortable, I never did suffer from side effects at all. I never did have the spotting either. The reason I stopped using it was we were ready to let whatever happen happen, kwim?

Im on Mirena, and honestly ladies, I think I am going to get it out. I have been on it since the beginning of December, and I am still spotting and the last month I have been having some serious cramping every week and a half, have a day of heavier spotting, and then just have discolored CM. Not fun for sure, its really being a pain in the behind honestly. I just dont know what else to go on, seeming I am still nursing, and I am scared of NFP because I think I would screw it up and get pregnant.

Well, we've been doing FAM, which is sorta like NFP, for 18 mos, and did it for 2 years before we decided to get pregnant with Rhys (and that happened in just 2 cycles). So we've had success with it and I love it, but I don't like even the low level of uncertainty. But the ONLY way to ensure that I don't get pregnant is no sex and that is not an option. I'm finding that nothing is 100%. Someone somewhere will have a story of how it didn't work for them. So if I am going to have sex then I need to accept the fact that pregnancy might happen. I realize the risk is lower for other options that some, but still, I want a 100% option and well, like I said that won't work.

I thought about an IUD, but decided against it when I heard about all the ladies who had heavier bleeding with it. Oh and the possibility of uterine puncture? No way.

Nuvaring actually helped even out my hormones so the emotional/moody stuff was not an issue. I just got really SUPER hungry like I did when I was pregnant. I also had a bit of bloating. Other than some breakthrough bleeding the first month, it was great. If I was going to be on hormonal BC long term, it would be my choice of BC, hands down.

Did you ask your dr. about the mini-pill that is safe for nursing moms? That is what I have been on. The only pain is that you have to take it at the same time every day.

I'd like to get off hormonal BC. I've been thinking about it for a couple months now and I'm tired of feeling crazy when I get my period. I'm either REALLY happy or I'm REALLY sad or angry, complete with crying. No in-between, and I have a very short temper that week. It's hard on me and it's hard on my Hubby. I switched the brand of pill I was on the first 8 months of our marriage for this exact same reason. I'm ready to try something else. I had such an unremarkable period before I got married (and got on the pill), there were some mood swings, but nothing like now. I'd like to switch to condoms, but Hubby isn't liking that idea

Ok, I have a baby and I want more children, but I try really hard to keep my post regarding that in the appropriate threads. Any parenting issues that can be answered by both a genders I put directly in the parenting folder and other questions can usually be put into one of the three folders in the Women's Only Personal section. I feel like there are several places that stay pretty kid free and there are more in depth topics of discussion that go on there.

This was my thought as well. I have 5 kids so naturally I enjoy talking about kids, pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and all that related stuff. But I also enjoy talking about 'other stuff'. If I see a post about the 'other stuff' I keep it about whatever the OP is about. I figure if I'm wanting to talk about other stuff there are plenty of other forums to go to here where I can do that. Maybe I'm just not seeing what is so special about the women only forum, to where these needs (for talking about other stuff) can't be meet in other forums too. I think it's an issue of respect too, if the OP is about a non-mommy issue, keep to the topic at hand. I think the respect goes the other way too. Right now at this point and time in my life, the majority of it is centered around my family, specifically my children. I talk about my "job" just as others talk about their "jobs". It's my every day life, home and work life What non-mommy topics are you looking to discuss, may be that will help to have an idea?

Even though mommy-hood IS my life, if someone brings up a topic unrelated to it, I have no problems discussing it without bringing in my mommy-hood. I really enjoy many of the other forums here for that reason.

We talked about it, but decided to do Mirena as I am horrible with the pill. I am so forgetful. Anyone have an opinion on Implanon?

Ugh...just got my period, 3 days early. My body is still all jacked up from pregnancy.

The good thing about this??? Aunt Flo should be gone when DH gets home.

The bad thing about this??? I have no clue when I'll be ovulating.

Time to start praying....and possibly buy some condoms.

Yay, DH has agreed to switch from the pill to condoms for a few months, to give my body a break from the extra hormones (I've been on it since we got married, almost 2 years). I'm very excited about this! Those of you who quit BC pills, what should I expect as far as physical and emotional changes? We're going to use condoms and spermicide as our prevention method, but haven't used condoms in a while and haven't ever used spermicide, any tips on picking out the right ones? I'm SO grateful that my sweet husband has decided that we could do this
