My cycles seem to have gotten reeeeeaaallly long for some reason. I used to be 30-32 days (and expected my period to start on about the same numerical day each month). Now it seems to be 35-40 days. I do not know why.

I'm excited because mine have gotten shorter! From like 40-50 days to 30-40. And my luteal phase is really short. Sort of a built in birth control. Heh heh.

Ok not TTC ladies...I need prayers. I started the nuva ring this cycle, but 4 days after my period started. The directions said to use additional protection for the first 7 days, and then it should be fine. We did that.

Now, the first sign I was pregnant before was that a week before my period was supposed to be due, I got this weird hormonal break out on my face. I had never gotten it before so I knew it was something odd and to take notice of. Well, I noticed it again today. The timing would be right.

please....Please.....PLEASE.....pray that this is just my body adapting to the hormones of the nuva ring. I can't be pregnant....I can't.......

Me too.

Thank you, both of you. I have struggled, really struggled with calling it quits, with shutting the factory down. Especially in this realm of having as many babies as possible. Your encouragement helps me. I am at peace with the decision now. I knew it was right for us, but I worried, really, that I would get told I was wrong, especially here on CW. Thank you for your kind words.

I just realized I never responded to this. You are quite welcome!

Praying for you, Sharon.

A rash can be a side effect of the Nuva Ring, so maybe it is just that.

I sure hope that is the case Manda. I suppose I'll wait until it is time to take out the nuva ring and see if I get a period. If I don't, I'll test.

Sorry to be such a pain about this, but a new symptom has popped up. I got Derrek off to bed and I went to the bathroom to ready for bed myself. I noticed that I'm having just a tiny bit of bright red bleeding with some significant discharge...like the amount I would normally have had during ovulation. Anywho....is it normal to have bleeding before it is time for the nuva ring to be removed for a week? I'm not experiencing any menstral type cramping which I normally would get a few days before my period starts.

If the flow is gone or not heavier like a real period tomorrow, I think I'm gonna go ahead and pee on a stick.

Things are going to be so different while on any type of hormonal birth control. It's not uncommon to experience break through bleeding, or to not have any cramps whatsoever. I've read that with the nuva ring you can experience increased vaginal secretions. So all of these could be from the nuva ring. It could also mean your pregnant. Rest assured, you'll know in a few days - but it stinks having to wait even that long!

It's funny, because my mother in law told me that they wouldn't call the dr about a possible pregnancy until they had missed their 2nd period. And they didn't even have hpt! I can't imagine. Almost being out of the first trimester before you knew for sure. Now we can find out before we even miss a period.

With my first two they suggested waiting until you were two weeks late.

I couldn't take it anymore, so I did take a test this morning. It was negative, PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!!!! I'm still bleeding though and I'm getting my normal period cramping and other symptoms. So it looks like we dodged a bullet. I just wish I could look inside my body to be 100% sure that the nuva ring is working like it should.

Sharon, have you thought about possibly using condoms as well as the Nuva Ring, perhaps really fine ones, just to feel safer? Because even if the Nuva Ring is working as it should, there's still a 2% failure rate.

Don't condoms have a 2% fail rate also?

If you use both together does that give you a 1% fail rate?

No, the reason I'm using the nuva ring is because we didn't want to use condoms.

I appreciate that, I was just wondering how sure you wanted to be of preventing, and whether you'd be ok with potentially having this "am I aren't I" scenario every month till Ray is deployed, which seems at the moment to have caused you a fair bit of stress.

Honestly though, with our schedules right now there are not many opportunities for baby making in the first place. And, even if we were using condoms too, I'd still be worried each month. To be honest though, I won't be as worried in a couple of months simply because my body will be more healed then it is now.

We use a dual approach, FAM (so I know when I am ovulating) and condoms. I still worry every month. I'm beginning to think it's a part of PMS? Wildly fluctuating hormones.

At one point my husband suggested we do FAM and use condoms during non-fertile times and abstain during fertile times. But I don't think I care to go to the trouble of temping every day. We use condoms to the utmost careful-ness, and there aren't any other birth control methods I care to intertwine. I guess having to worry whether you are pregnant or not is just an unfortunate part of being sexually active + not wanting a baby.

Does anyone else freak out the last week before their period is due, just 'knowing' they are pregnant? I do this every month, even though we were perfect in our protection. I have sort of let the surgery go. There is a weak link (more research needed) to a certain type of dementia in men who've had a vasectomy. Here is more information. Now I know this is a very weak link, but I'd rather wait a few years, when they've done more research and can validate or refute these claims. Also, I'm still interested in the Essure. But, again, it's only been approved in the US for I think a few years and want to wait a little bit to see more people having had it done.

So I think we will do as we've done this past year, we are very good with self control. I think the fear helps with that, at least for me. And if the Lord would want a baby from that, then He would provide in that situation. But I won't willingly try when there is so much at risk.

Too bad God does not have a suggestion box. I'd suggest he start to install an on/off switch for fertility

I'd like to ask God why 12 year old are capable of getting pregnant, when they are so obviously not ready either mentally or physically to go through 9 months of pregnancy and childbirth.

Ruth, there was a 12 year old girl in the bed next to mine back in '93 when I was giving birth to my oldest son. She had been raped by her uncle and was in the hospital, in labor. When I looked over at her, she was holding a very well-loved teddy bear and bearing down for a contraction. A terrible contradiction if I've ever seen one. I've thought of her often over the years, and wondered the same thing as you: Why?

Oh my, oh my, oh my. That poor girl. That makes my heard ache. Goodness, I was 12 in 93. That 12 yr old would be 30 or so now. She's lived a lifetime in such a short time.

That would be off topic for this discussion. If you are really asking, then you might want to take it to Kicka or start another thread.

Well, we are officially praising God for Aunt Flo! Worrying about the birth control is just crazy to me so I think once I'm done with the 3 month pack of the nuvaring (2 months left) we are just going to be done with it and whatever happens, happens. If I get pregnant I'll just move to Maryland with my mom until my husband comes home from Iraq.

How long is it between the pack running out and your husband being deployed?
