Us too, August most likely, if we decide this is our year. We're not certain yet though!

Aren't you supposed to semi-like your period when NOT TTC?

This month was a bad month. I get them every 2-3 weeks. And then my husband was off work this weekend, so I could not just rest. He wanted to go and go.

I did not take meds before I went to bed on Friday night and woke up at 1am with the worst cramps. :( Then I was up until about 3 or 4 waiting for the pain to stop (or meds to kick in). I know better than this. I know I need to take the meds every 4-6 hours for the first 24 hours. So my own laziness cost me.

My husband was trying to be understanding, but I told him when someone reaches in, grabs his intestines, then twists them every 1-3 minutes, he can understand.

Well, another successful month of Not TTC. This makes month #38 for us. Now to just wait for the Advil to kick in... :)

Nice!

Unfortunately, I don't consider the "symptoms" of a period fun no matter what it signifies!

I've had that before, too. I'm just sure it's "time," but it doesn't come for a while. I've never measured to see exactly how long it is, but that only happens about once a year, so I don't think there's cause for concern- not that you thought that, Jen, but I have.

It could be from ovulating, I get that all the time when not on bcp and sometimes even when I am on them, like this month. I'm pretty sure I had a break through ovulation this month, thankfully we have also been use a back up method. I was on 2 anti-biotics recently and I think that's what is causing the problem.

I cramp around ovulation, usually. I used to have horrible cramps during AF. Since I've changed my diet over the past couple of years, I never, ever cramp during AF anymore.

Although, the past few months I've been on 33-35 day cycles, what's that all about?? I took 2 pg tests before I finally started on day 35 this month. So annoying. I've always been really regular.

What do you think about your diet change helped? I've changed to a diet similar to yours (I think,) but still have cramps.

I know for me, when I cut out caffeine and the tons of sugar I was eating....it made a HUGE difference. There are also foods, like pineaple for example, that have anti-inflamitory properties. It is like taking Advil without actually taking it.

I'm not sure what the exact connection is, I just know that's when the change came. I imagine it's because I cut out so many inflammatory foods and focused on getting good nutrition. I know you are doing that, too, but I guess everyone's body reacts a little differently to things.

eta: OK, I got curious and started googling (so I wouldn't be blissfully ignorant anymore LOL) and found some very interesting info that I didn't know about!

quote:

The way your body produces different types of prostaglandins can be controlled by what you include in your diet by consumption of different oils and foods. Some foods and oils will promote the negative prostaglandins because of subtle chemical reactions. In turn, other foods and oils will block that chemical reaction and stop the negative prostaglandins from being produced.

From HERE. Very interesting! I think I would definitely connect the nutrition with my cramps (and now lack of cramps). Seems Omega-3s are very helpful! (I've been reading a lot of info about that, too . . . .)

This is from the same source:

quote:

This deprives the muscle of oxygen, which causes pain. But why do the uterine muscles contract?

It is caused by the series two prostaglandins. Series two prostaglandins help the uterus to shed the womb lining during menstruation by causing the contraction of the uterine muscles. Understandably, if too many of these prostaglandins are produced, then the contractions will be more severe and cause painful menstrual cramps — primary dysmenorrhoea.

However, not all prostaglandins have this effect on the involuntary uterine muscles, which is why diet can play a big role in minimising the production of series two prostaglandins. The types of fatty acids included in your diet influence the types of prostaglandins made. For example, series two prostaglandin (the type that trigger powerful contractions of the uterus) levels are increased when animal fat is included in the diet. In contrast, series one and series three prostaglandins (the type that don’t cause uterine contractions) are produced when the diet is higher in linoleic acid, which is found naturally in tuna and salmon oil. Evening primrose oil and starflower oil are also rich sources of linoleic acid, which is why they are often recommended for women suffering from period cramps and are especially helpful for women with endometriosis.

Very helpful info! I've never thought much about the connection of cramps and your diet. It makes sense though!

Rachel, I've changed my diet, too; and my cycles got longer -- they were running 28-31 days, and now are 32-35 days (although this one may be longer than that even) with less 'problems'. My cramps are less, too.

Do any of you Not TTC people have pregnancy dreams?

Before now all my pregnancy dreams were about being full term or almost full term and waiting for the baby to arrive. Yet in all of these dreams my stomach wasn't any bigger than normal, and my husband was not in those dreams either.

Then this weekend I had two different dreams about being at the beginning of pregnancy. Friday night I dreamed about going shopping for a pregnancy test. Then Saturday night I dreamed about just finding out I was pregnant, and that I started to tell people the news. Two days later I am still thinking about this dream. It was weird.
