I just talked to my sister. She had a colonoscopy yesterday (she had been having some bleeding). They found a 7mm mass near her rectum. The doctor did not feel comfortable removing it during the colonoscopy procedure. They took a biopsy and she will know the results on Tuesday. We know that she will have surgery, but we are not sure if they will be able to go thru the rectum (less invasive) or if they will have to do a more invasive type of surgery. The doctor said that he thinks the mass is benign, but we will not know for sure until the results come in. Then we will know if more than surgery is needed. Please pray for my sister... her name is Nicole, and she is 48 years old. She has two children, who will be 15 and 14 this year. She recently re-married (3 years ago), after being married to a very abusive man for several years.

Well, my sister got the test results back this afternoon. It is cancer. She has an appt with the surgeon on Wed. 3/31. We don't know what type of surgery she will have, or when. We also don't know what (if any) additional treatments she will require. Her ex-husband is very abusive, and is the type who would keep the kids from the rest of the family just to be mean. So, in addition to the possibility of losing my sister, I am afraid of losing my niece and nephew as well. My sister was too upset to talk to me today. Please pray that I have discernment about when to call her and when to give her space. Also, I want to be there for her when she needs me. It is about an 8 hour drive to her house. Thanks for your prayers... they are much appreciated.

Dh has a job interview this afternoon. One of those situations that just popped up out of the blue. Neither of us is getting any direction on what he is to do.

Update on my sis... I talked to her today, after she met with the surgeon. The news was good and bad. They do not think that the cancer has spread. They are putting off the surgery for 12 weeks. She is going to undergo chemo and radiation treatments for 6 weeks, then have a 6 week break, then surgery. They want to kill the cancer before operating. They are also testing to see if it is genetic, since she has it so young. If it is, then the whole family will need to be tested. (My mom passed away from cancer in 2001. It was widespread by the time they found it, and never determined how/where it started.) In addition, if it is positive, they will remove her entire colon, her uterus and her ovaries. When she does have surgery, she will have at least a temporary colostomy bag, but they think that she will have a permanent one. She has damage to her muscles from childbirth, and the surgery will make that worse, so even if she does not lose her entire colon, she may have a permanent colostomy bag. She is not ready to face this, even though she did say that it is better than being dead. They are trying to get her into treatment next week. I will travel down there to take her to treatment if her husband has to work. I am sure that she will be sick or tired afterward, and I want to be there to support her.

Thank you for praying and please keep doing it. DIL was put on a respirator because she had pnuemonia. They took the meds off Saturdauy and tried to wake her up. Last night, Ds said she opened her eyes for a few minutes and was back out. He said he pinched her arm and she moved it. She wasn't doing this before. The drs are saying that her kidneys are not in good shape but not totally gone. Drs think she might have had two strokes but don't know when and they are not in a location that interferes with moving. Just keep praying for her. They have a 4 month old who needs his mommy home and well.

Please pray that God opens up doors and softens hearts for me to be able to homechool next year. I home schooled this past year and love it. My son has improved greatly. I would like to home school all three of my children next year. Things are getting in the way of that right now. Please stand in agreement with me that this will be Christian teaching home.

Marshall's Lymes disease test came back negative. His kidney doc comes to Wichita on Friday & will hopefully figure it out. Maybe staph or yeast infection.

Ellie is in the Operating Room now having the stent put in. We'll be back here as soon as they can schedule the laser thing to remove the stone. Should be able to go home tonight.

Marshall may have to have a kidney biopsy in Kansas City. His creatnine went up from 1.4 to 1.8, on Monday, then down to 1.7, on Friday.. He drank more water to make it go down. To find out if this is his new normal number or signs of rejection a biopsy will be needed. I'll know later today if & when. It could be puberty or it could be signs of rejection. They are suppose to have enacted a new check out policy that will enable them to leave closer to noon the next day if the biopsy shows no rejection. If there is rejection he will stay another night at the minimum. Too bad there isn't something between lab work & biopsy to find this info out.

Marshall's biopsy is 1pm Monday. He didn't drink enough water while at my brother's house & his creatnine went up to 1.9.

Some of you may remember the long ordeal with my dh's back problems & eventual surgery a few years ago. Well, his back has been hurting some the last 2 weeks. This past weekend, it gave out a few times & he had to lie down. He went to the doctor yesterday & got medicine (steroids, muscle relaxer & pain killers). He had to drive my SUV yesterday because he couldn't duck his head to get into his car. This is the worst it has been since before his surgery! He realized that he needs to be careful what he does & to start doing his strengthening exercises again! I'm praying this was just a needed wake up call & he's able to recover without needing surgery again! Thanks for praying!

My parents were in a pretty bad car accident today. We think the van is totaled. They called & I met them at the ER. Dad has a sore arm & shoulder, but Mom cracked 3 ribs & her breast bone. They are both in their 80s, but in good health for their age. Prayers for healing for my Mom & that there are no other complications are greatly appreciated. It's been a long day for all of us!

Just a quick request. My niece is having trouble with the county she lives in (they moved recently). They are telling her that she makes too much money for medicaid & child care vouchers. She thinks they may think she still works her 2nd job & that her income was reported incorrectly for her current job. Pray she can get to the right person & get the mess straightened out quickly. Also pray that none of them get sick in the meantime, since they have no medical coverage!

A young man from our church who graduated from hsing in '09 died of a heart attack last night (Sunday). Don't know many details yet. Please pray for his family. He has a couple (1-2) natural siblings and a couple young foster brothers.

Marshall's creatnine is the highest it has ever been, 2.2. He feels fine. Waiting to see what doc decides.

The donor specific antibodies are done to see if Marshall has developed antibodies to the donor antigens (Colin’s), which are like proteins. There is a type of rejection called humoral, or antibody mediated rejection, in which the recipient makes antibodies against the donor antigens. We can measure the presence of antibodies in the blood with this test, called DSA for donor specific antigens, to see if that’s the case with Marshall. We will compare it to the previous DSA from 2009 to determine if there is a change. If there is a change and it’s determined that he has humoral rejection, then we will need to treat him. Treatment includes possible plasmapheresis and immune globulin (IVIG) given IV. But first we need to get the DSA. You will receive a kit in the mail from the Midwest Transplant Network with lab tubes. You will need to take the kit to your lab after you receive it – Marshall will have his regular labs drawn as well as the tubes in the kit. You will then mail (by regular mail) the kit with the tubes back to the Midwest Transplant Network. Please let me know when you receive the kit and when the blood is drawn.

Eph 3:20 He can accomplish more than we could ever ask or think. Try to keep the attitude of the three guys in Daniel 3:17-18. The book of psalms is great for wrestling with your thoughts. Don't forget we are here to point others to Christ Jesus, but we are all going home. Fight the enemy. Lamentations 3: 20-25 Be encouraged.
