"1 I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord watches over you-- the Lord is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all harm-- he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. I made it smoke-free for 19 hours and 20 minutes today, and then fell again.

That was May 27th; Yesterday, May 28th, I made it smoke-free for 22 hours and 13 minutes --- then I fell ; I smoked 4 cigarettes before going to bed.

I awoke this morning with these words playing over and over in my mind, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." [Psalm 23].

Still smoke-free so far today --- no promises.

If you keep this pattern up, according to my calculations you will be smoke free 31 hours a day two days from now. This is better then most!

You've had several days now where you have gone almost all of the day without smoking.

ACCEPT TO YOURSELF THAT THIS IS GOOD!!! It is in fact remarkable. Allow yourself to be SATISFIED at where you're at in the process, not beating yourself up because you're not perfect immediately!

Improving isn't always the same as being perfect in one go. It is often about getting better little by little. Things getting better is a good thing. You have a good thing because it's getting better

Do it again! And again! All you need is one successful attempt.

A wise man once said: "The definition of a winner is not someone who never fails, but someone who never gives up"

YAY!!!! Great start!!!!!

Roberta...I don't know if this will help you, but when I am going through a battle (spiritual or physical, or both....and I see this as a both for you) then I try to keep praise and worship music going and keep my mind focused on God more (the music helps me).

I need some healthy habits now.

I'll start (this has helped me these last few days):
1.) Breathe Deep, and often.

I really need some prayers. Twice now I've typed out a post aimed at a pacifist and had to erase everything instead of posting because I don't want any pms from mods telling me that I've violated TOS. KWIM?

I've had two cigarettes in 19 hours.

I've had one cigarette in 15 hours (that was 3 hours ago); Yes, I'm having a rough go at it today too.
One thing I've done differently today than the last two days is I haven't been drinking the Juice; I don't like juice!!!!!!

Anyway, Maybe this will help; it helped me understand what's going on; I'm mostly experiencing time perception distortions, headaches, and inability to concentrate.

quote:

Blood sugar plummets in many people when first quitting. The most common side effects felt during the first three days can often be traced back to blood sugar issues. Symptoms such as headache, inability to concentrate, dizziness, time perception distortions, and the ubiquitous sweet tooth encountered by many, are often associated with this blood sugar drop. The symptoms of low blood sugar are basically the same symptoms as not having enough oxygen, similar to reactions experienced at high altitudes. The reason being the inadequate supply of sugar and/or oxygen means the brain is getting an incomplete fuel. If you have plenty of one and not enough of the other, your brain cannot function at any form of optimal level. When you quit smoking, oxygen levels are often better than they have been in years, but with a limited supply of sugar it can't properly fuel your brain.

More HERE

Hope it helps. Now I just got to figure out what to fix or do about dinner.

And lets not forget the irritability, frustration, anxiety, rapid mood swings, and trying to control my anger; I talked about in an earlier post. Which are mixed with breathing better--- easier, laughing, teasing and joking around more and more (joy returning).

I did smoke 5 cigarettes today

I'm going to try to word this post in a way that Manda59 would be proud of.

Today is the two week anniversary of my last drink.
Today, I took less than half of a dose of the prescription that I'm being weaned off of.
Today, I passed up 15 cigarettes.
