You know, once on my 80 mage in a heroic dungeon, my gear score was called "low" by the rest of the PUG. They questioned throwing me out. But my "lower gear score" gear was tuned to how I played as an arcane mage at the time. That night I was second highest DPS, the top being an uber-geared rogue. By the end of the dungeon I was getting kudos for being able to "compensate for *****py gear" (*they used a different word).

Yeah, better gear will help me. No doubt. But as we talked about the other day online, gear score cannot compensate for an empty head. The human playing the toon has to know how to play their class and incorporate their race benefits into that. And I would add that a little maturity goes a long way too.

I had the pleasure of doing a random 5 man with a cool group this morning before the shut down. The tank (pally) had some sort of macro that announced something silly when he taunted, something akin to the comments the mob bosses make. No one whined, we got through in good time, reminded each other of boss tricks....ah, it was good.

My husband, on the other hand, was in another with his dps warrior...once again ended up 4 manning it with him tanking instead, when the tank got huffy and dropped out. Poor baby.

On the other hand, yesterday someone announced that noone should que up for battlegrounds unless they had 5k dps. Huh? How soon they forget their humble beginnings.

I was annoyed on a PUG the other day when one of the DPSers had a macro that whispered me telling me what rank spell I should be using instead of what I was using. I told the DPS to cut it out but he said he couldn't...it was automatic. Right... Anyway, I tanked it just fine (Pally tank FTW) and ignored the punk. If they think they can play a tank better, how come they aren't playing a tank? I will never apologize for my tanking because I do a pretty good job most of the time (even when those 6k GS punks are popping trinkets on every pull and I still manage to hold aggro somehow). I just try to have fun and enjoy kicking butt against the cheesy heroic bosses. Can't wait to see how Cataclysm will be different!

Are we excited about the opening of the Ruby Sanctum? Supposed to happen soon! My brother-in-law thought it was today but I've tried to log-in a couple times and there hasn't been a patch, so probably next week. New content will be sweet. I haven't been all the way through ICC yet, but I wasn't impressed by the fights in there up to Saurfang. I watched a Youtube of the Lich King fight and it looks fun, though. I much prefer fighting dragons which might explain my affinity for Sunken Temple back in the day and my looking forward to Ruby Sanctum.

I got that today...it seems that every time I went to train my hunter I was in Beast Master spec and not Marksman...so today I went into the dungeon using Aimed Shot 2, when it should have been Aimed Shot 9. Although it is spammy, I have learned to appreciate that add-on since your talents don't always scale up automatically on your dual spec.

I can remember bringing my Vanilla WoW hunter into MC years ago. My spec was totally based off of agil, and I took him just for a joke. I was in mostly blues(whatever I could get that had max agility. What is sad is that my DPS was highest on the chart. More proof that Gearscore does not = Skill.

As for the hacking. I have never once bought gold, but I was hacked once. (The token authenticator did not exist) I had logged in to the website at a friends house who had a key logger. Stopping the gold sellers would not stop the hacking problem. Lessen it, perhaps, but not stop it.

I am sure there will be hackers who do it just to see if they can but the gold sellers do it to get the gold to sell to others. We recently had a guild officer hacked. oddly they took materials from the bank but not the gold.

ruby sanctum is the last one before Cata comes hopefully. Saurfang is the last fight in ICC that a person can be "carried" when you hit the rest the timers are nasty. Thats when the avg of each dps needs to be high. the fights get more technical and more hard the farther along you go. the gunship is called free loot nowadays lol. Saurfang if know how to kite its a breeze on 10 man

I tried ranking down the other day and for some reason each rank of my spells had the same amount of mana required. I thought the reason to rank down was to save mana or rage or whatever. If you spend the same for each rank of the spell, why on earth would you not use the highest rank all the time?

That makes sense I guess...I've never been a high-level raider because I just don't have the time to commit to it. But the simple fact that I am able to get into ICC 10/25, the supposed "top-level" raid content in the game, and have pretty consistent success says alot about how watered-down the game has become. It's also a tribute to how hardcore the vanilla-WoW content was. BWL, AQ, and MC are still brutal even with a group of 80s looking to do damage. That said, it is kind of nice to be able to experience endgame content without getting ROFLCOPTER stomped before even reaching a boss.

They changed the ability to use a lower rank with the last expansion. The trick now is to make sure you have the highest rank on the tool bar if you train dual spec. It doesn't automatically update on the hidden action bar.

I do get annoyed by people gripping (always puggers) that new 80's can't just "tank and spank" each boss in a dungeon. They forget when all the instances required teamwork and some strategy...not just over powered high gear score power runs. I appreciate when my new 80's get carried. I do my best to dps (healer is pretty well geared for random dungeons and ten man weekly) but no one rolled their toon with a gear score of 5k. And then these end gamers complain that they are bored. (sigh) Thank God that I have a good guild with people with a sense of humor. That is what make the game fun!

That reminds me of one of my favorite quests in WotLK. The one that you do FOR the Scourge in Zul'Drak. Its "Feedin' Da Goolz" and given by Gristlegut when you are wearing the Scourge disguise. You have to go feed the ghouls some "Bowels 'n' Brains". And you can even buy some for yourself

Yummy!

One of the things I have always loved about Warcraft and WoW specifically is the music score. I just stumbled upon this interview with Russell Brower who scored the game. If you like the game music, read how it came about.

I have got to get some more screen shots to use as an avvy. too often by the time I shrink it, it looses alot of context. This Ally pair is so Burning Crusade.

I screen shot a lot. When I see something odd, I take a screen shot. For example, I have a shot of a bear sticking straight out of a cliff half way up. I have another of an ogre in a cave with his head completely encased in rock above. He was stuck actually and could not move (evade loop).

I don't think I want to switch out my little pumpkin for an old bony avvy though, and most of my toons are bonies

hmm, if you facebook, I'd love to have some of those in our guild photo album. I have an odd one that shows my hunter flying through the air like she is swimming through the sea because her riding mount never loaded in. Oddly enough, when I dream about flying, I swim through the air, too.

RUBY SANCTUM OPENS TODAY! I'm excited! I always like the instances that involve dragons of some sort. I guess its supposed to be roughly equivalent to ICC in difficulty.

Priest question here: I recently switched my healy spec on my Belf priest from discipline to holy in order to be more "raid friendly", but I've failed miserably in my first couple of PUGs (TOC/VOA). Wondering what I'm doing wrong. I thought circle of healing would make things so much easier for raid healing, but the cooldown on it is way too high for my taste. My haste is only at around 500, so I probably need to up that. So far my rotation has been: prayer of mending, improved renew, flash heal/flash heal/flash heal, POM whenever its not on CD. It seems I'm not supposed to use PW:Shield as a holy priest except in rare circumstances, but I could be wrong about that. Any of you play a holy priest and have suggestions?

My priest: Deitiphobia, Feathermoon realm

Are there any glyphs you can get to reduce cool down? My healers are Disc/Holy, which sucks mana, but feels stronger healing to me. I tried straight holy, but it was harder for me to keep up with healing. My style of healing is more preventative (sheild the clothies, mend the tanks, super heal the main tank)... but I haven't done much raids....
