oops, no more bag slots is almost as bad as no more arrows!

My DH has toons that he plays without me and toons that we try to keep leveled evenly. Today my problem is how to play without getting boogers on the keyboard. I have had the sniffles all day.

Well, I may have put the "box of magnets" back in the bank, but someone wanted a little leveling action going on when they could not get online.

And my DW is not so put out by my dropping her quest items in the bank for a bit. Because she went out and bought me a new graphics card for my b-day.

And now my son cannot gloat that only he has the realistic water effects.

Oh, did we miss your birthday????

We replaced my graphics card, too. And I have a wide screen lcd monitor. Wow, what a diff!

I like the long skinny monitor for moving windows around when I am chatting and working on photos at the same time.

Nope it was an early present because it was on sale. B-day is coming up this weekend.

I so want the LCD monitor. So does hunterjumper. But for now, we must wait until this old CRT dies.

But she does think I am nuts for running my Windows display at 1280x1024 rez. She says its too tiny to read

you must have younger eyes than mine. I have gotten to a point where I take my glasses off to use the computer. And my DH has computer glasses.

Could be younger, don't know. You would think the years of computer programming and staring at screens would have done worse by now. I don't even wear glasses. But I have been doing "eye exercises" for years.

Come this weekend I will be the square root of 4545424 weeks old.

I run my 20.1" LCD at 1600 x 1200. ~100dpi is about as tiny as I think I want to get. What size CRT are you running 1280 x 1024 on? I used to run that on my 19" CRT (1280 x 960 actually) and that was larger than what I'm running now. I need to get a new PC to be able to run current games at 1600x1200, though.

Uh...... would you believe 17"?

Yeah, its a small one. But it is all that fits in the spot right now.

Two jobs ago, I had a 21" CRT and ran it at 1600x1200 off my laptop which I ran at 1280x1048 (Toshiba). So I had massive screen real estate with the dual displays. Great for having multiple files open at once while programming, or working on documentation.

just a tad bit younger than me.

ok, mr engineer. Here is one for you and hunterjumper.

If you take my age and elpenor's age and subtract one from the other, when you multiply the square of the differance by eleven, is the same as when you add our two ages together.

if you want to cheat, I think our ages are on a thread somewhere, unless that thread has been deleted.

I have to admit, I way over-complicated the solution at first using algebra. Then I said "wait a minute, just use the properties of numbers".

So then your combined ages are a multiple of 11 as you indicated because 11 was the multiplier of the difference. Now if you are something older than me, that means the answer is in upper part of the 11 multiplication series. So by simple elimination I quickly narrowed down the product to one of 88, 99, and 110. Knowing that your age is in the 40-somethings eliminated any others.

Now also knowing that the difference squared must be used to produce the multiple of 11, I know that the difference cannot be too significant else the numbers would grow too large quickly. So then the difference must be something like 2, 3, or 4 because beyond that the squares create too high a difference to satisfy the equations.

So then I took the middle road and guessed the difference was "3" and when applied to the formula yields a product of 99 which is the sum of the ages. So then I have x - y = 3 and I have x + y = 99. Solving the first in terms of x yields x = 3 + y. Doing simple substitution into the second yields the equation (3 + y) + y = 99, or simplified 2y = 96 which means y = 48. Substituting back into the first now yields x = 3 + 48 which is 51.

Plugging the answers back in shows that 51 + 48 = 99 = 11 * ( 51 - 48 ) = 99 which indicates the numbers are correct.

Now recalling from your posts that your DH is the older of the two of you means you are "y" and he is "x" years old.

How's that?

Good grief! That must be some tiny text! I tried running that res on my 17" way back when I was running a PII-450 as my processor! I had to lean in to the screen too much.

I run dual monitors myself on my desktop, have for over 5 years now. My primary monitor is my 20" LCD (used to be a 19" CRT) my secondary has always been my 17" CRT running a standard 1024x768. Right now it's mostly Winamp and IM clients on the secondary butwhen I've been in school it's been great for schoolwork. Being able to have research open on one monitor and Word on another or, for online courses, the instructions for the assignment on and and the actual work on the other was great.

The wake the sleeping peons quest is actually one of my favorites! I actually took my undead to the den just to do that quest. It was satisfying somehow...

I think my favorite Horde noob quest was in Deathknell (undead) and was killing the wolves, because they were the ones that usually gave bags. And boy do noobs need bags. But for my favorite Alliance noob quest, all I have is this to say: "You no take candle!"

telllll me about it! I got to a point where I only took money off of the monsters that I killed. And then just before heading back to complete the quest, I started picking up stuff to sell.

I am cooking dinner. My sweetie is farming with his level 60 to build up a money reserve to buy my mount when I get that high a level. (((hugs)))

I started a new economic system on the PVP server with my new character. I just leveled to 24 the other day and I have bought a set of 14 slot bags and an herb bag, the best clothes (armor) I could afford, and I still have about 10g in the bank. Farming can be profitable, especially if you sell every thing possible on the AH, even if it is for just a few silver more than what vendor's pay.

Oh an my new character gets a free mount

Saw the "Camelot" spoof, did not see the others. Playing mostly undead characters, I liked the Not Yet Dead a lot. Hilarious.

Hey, can someone explain this comic for me?

Is the gag that he can't use a fork and knife at the same time? Why would you need both to eat hay?

Well the best I can come up with is the Tauren (cow) is nervous about the Orc eating a steak and dual wielding is needed for protection.

But then again, I am too tired to think about it.
