I know that IHOP is a restaurant chain over there, but the only thing we mean when we use that term is Internation House Of Prayer. That's in the US, not here.

Hi, Mike & Trish! Leonard doesn't like IHOP (the restaurant, that is) but I'm OK with it. I've heard of the prayer groups IHOP--think I saw them on line one time. Must go look it up again. What did we do without the web? Amazing, isn't it.

Yes Joy, amazing indeed! I am not the hugest fan if IHOP either, but they are ok.

I have heard of the International House of Prayer as well.

I can't really remember what life was like before the internet. I remember that I used to do a lot of cross stitch. I read a lot. I was a lot more active then, so I wasn't home as much. I'd take off for the day and go somewhere just for the heck of it, or because there was something fun to do. Can't do that now with the fibromyalgia. I don't make it half way up the street, walking, without feeling like I want to scream. I sure do miss those times though. Wish I could do it again.

With or without the internet, I still read and cross stitch.

To start with, I didn't have a clue how to look for things. I still don't, but I seem to have a bit more success at it now.

And nowadays, I have a lot more friends. Friends I've met over the net over the years. Some I still keep in contact with, and some I've unfortunately lost contact with.

I remember life before the internet. Things kinda went like this:

1) constantly check phone messages.

2) Read newspapers/watch tv/listen to the radio for news.

3) talk on the phone to communicate with people: ie, make multiple phone calls if there was going to be something planned, or just chit chat.

4) Either go to the library or order a catalog/brochure/Magazine/etc. if you were looking for information.

5) Watch TV/listen to the radio to pass time.

That was about the gist of it.

Yeah, I went to the library more then. But then I was a student, so I guess I'd have to go to a library regardless.

I talked on the phone a lot more than I do now. Talking on the phone actually makes me panic most of the time now.

Watched the TV for news, but then again, I still do.

Joy, sorry I had to bail on you earlier. When you popped up, I was actually just about to close off the computer and rest my shoulder. It's been causing a lot of pain since the injection yesterday. Hopefully we'll get another opportunity to talk online for a longer time.

Hi, Mike, Trish, Trishy!

Yes, before the internet it was harder to find info. What amazes me is getting around is easier because you can find things, even locally, that would be almost impossible to find! I notice this even more since we have moved. We didn't know where places were, and rather than keep bugging our daughter or son, we just looked them up, got the maps, and went to them. Even a simple thing like getting vacuum bags, I wouldn't have known where to get the kind my mom uses but I looked it up on the internet and found a store around three miles away that sells them! So we took her there and she got some. I have made a bunch of friends too, you all included!

Yesterday we went to the park to have lunch with our grandkids. They go there every day for lunch in the summer. Well, we didn't know that the local zoo was going to bring some critters for kids to see and touch, and that was so fun. A snake, a Madagascar cockroach, a lizard (like 3-ft. long with zig-zag back--the best I can describe it), a ferret, and more. Got some pix of the grandkids. It was a fun time!

Trish, don't worry, we all have to cut the conversation somewhere. Some conversations are long and some miniscule, and either way it's great to be able to say hi!!!! I enjoyed that little chat with you!

We had the family over yesterday for our children's birthday party. It's so fantastic to be able to do this. It was the first time we'd had our daughter's birthday with her since 1997 and our son's since 1999 (because we lived so far away). Their birthdays are a week apart (she is two years older than he).

Hi Joy. I'm so glad to be seeing you around Crosswalk again. It's been a long time.

I'm really glad that you're close enough to be with your family.

What happened from the time you were in TX until now?

I agree with what you said in Ben's thread. There are so many people that used to be here that aren't here anymore. I wonder what they are doing now, and hoping they are ok. Wondering what ever happened to them.

Hi, and thanks, Trish, CM, and Mike! Trish, we hadn't moved to TX, just visited in 2007. A lot of things happened (or didn't happen) and then the Lord directed us differently.

We are going to have our first Christmas ever with all the family--our children and grandchildren. The last Christmas we had with our dd and ds-i-l and ds was in 1998 when dd was expecting our first grandchild! It will be great to all be together again. Our ds came to us for Christmas two or three times while we were in CA, and we were so blessed.

Hey Joy. It's good that you're going to be able to spend Christmas together after so long.

Thanks for your Christmas card. It arrived the other day.

Hi, Mike and Trish, and others who may visit!

It was great to be with our grandchildren, Trish! There were fourteen of us all together-- our dd, sil and the four children, ds and his gf, and sil's family.

We had our family over on New Year's day for a potato bake.

I was home (didn't go out) for a week with a bad cold, cough and all the 'trimmings'! It was a cold time and not advisable to go out. I found plenty to do at home! Didn't get bored at all, though missed doing some things like being at the Rescue Mission.

We still have one Christmas decoration up. It's a wall nativity and looks so nice there, we decided to leave it there--well, for the time being, anyway.

Sounds like you had a fun time for Christmas. I'm glad.

New Years didn't sound bad either!

Hi, Trish and CM! We're doing fine here, thanks! Trish, I hope you are OK. That big storm was forecast and I have the weather channel on to see if they are going to say anything. Then I'll go check online in a little while.
