 Dear Friends, Will update this prayer request soon but this morning I am beginning a new weekly blood draw; Wed. must see my primary; & Thu. our 90 day evaluation meeting w/ the MT. SINAI LIVER TRANSPLANT TEAM. I have an excess of iron around my liver & heart. Hence this morning after I see my Hematologist at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan we will begin weekly drawing blood to reduce that iron load. This process has worked for some in about 7-8 weeks, or could take months-a year. Because I am vulnerable to anemia they will half the amount drawn. But, I am believing that in about 8 weeks I will be reporting that the iron is gone...& at most may need a small draw every few months. As some know I am tentatively planning on a move soon to Pensacola, Fla. to be w/ family..this will likely delay that. Please lift up those prayers. GOD BLESS!  Dear Friends, I've spent Tues. & Wed. @ Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan as an outpatient: Tues. began the 1st of weekly blood draws to remove dangerous iron from around my heart & liver. Wed.-I saw my PCP & she basically went over my recent labs, & thank God most areas are normal or improved as far as my HIV & Hep B being undetectable now. TODAY- Must complete a 90 day evaluation period being done by the MT. SINAI LIVER TRANSPLANT TEAM. At last report my MELD was 13...very low. 40 being the danger area/when you'd need a transplant.
Mt. Sinai on Manhattan's upper east side is not my regular treaters but are serving as back-up in the event my liver condition/cirroshis worsens. I am no longer allowed to take the only 2 treatments involving inteferon shots, the last time daily. Please pray for healing of my liver & immune system;as I must try & heal w/out liver medications. JESUS IS THE GREAT PHYSICIAN! He's worked many miracles in my life, I'm praying for more in the area of healing.

As someone w/ Hep C & Cirroshis I am headed today to Roosevelt Hospital In Manhattan for an ultrasound of my liver/gall bladder area to screen for cancer.
I have no signs but this is a yearly tradition.
I can no longer take the daily self injections of Pegasys as the meds work fine & my hep c plunges to undetectable usually w/ in the 1st month but then after a year & treatment ending it goes back up after a few months; there were also other complications.
I am seeing also Mt. Sinai Hospital's liver transplant team, one of the best in the country and have a low MELD of 13 so Praise God I don't even qualify to be on a transplant list...prayerfully it'll stay like that for along time but as w/ every patient one can progress slowly or very fast.
I pray that my liver w/ out meds will get better & that there will be no need for any liver transplant for a great many years.
I also pray that they will come up w/ better meds for all suffering from liver illness as there are only a couple of treatments & side-effects can be very harsh for some.
Unfortunately though in this bad economy my liver specialist says that they are not finding the research dollars that are needed.
God is a good God though...& he offers healing through His stripes.
