this is just a gripe, but has anybody ever listened to this radio station in DC???

i can't stand them...they play the same music, they are not even current on the hits (dj saying "here's the latest from mercyme" and it's God With Us instead of You Reign)...

i can't stand them...

i wrote them asking to play more of a selection of downhere (Little is Much, A better Way, Forgive Yourself, The Real Jesus, etc.) and instead they just increase the playing of How Many Kings, a christmas song!!!

they keep playing Song of Hope by Robbie Seay Band HOURLY even when I wrote saying it's way past its prime...and even then they HAVE to play something by Casting Crowns every half hour...it's quite annoying by now

now, all of the bands and music i mentioned, i actually like...

problem is that i like more of a variety...can anybody clarify if there is a reason for this (licenses on the music)???

is it just this radio station???

Nope. Welcome to the world of "Family Safe" radio. There have been dozens of threads here about how lame Christian radio is. Here in NJ it's "Star 99.1", who, almost five years after changing their format is still billing themselves as the "New" Star 99. For decent Christian radio your best bet is the internet.

It doesn't seem to matter where you are, radio stations are just plain horrible now. I put on the rock station here in Tampa and it plays the same old grunge stuff. I usually don't listen to radio much, unless it is early in the morning and I catch the comedy shows while dropping the kids off to school. The rest of the time I usually really on my cd collection, its to the point where I could go 2 and half years with one cd and never play the same cd twice.

Ok Huskerine, when I was down in Washington (and also online too) I had the opportunity to listen to both stations.

Used to listen to WGTS when we lived in DC. I did like hearing about all the concerts coming up! We were able to see LOTS of our favorite artists while there (I miss that - but not the traffic)!

I agree that most radio stations (not just Christian) seem to have a limited play list. We are fortunate to have 3 Christian stations where we live now. So, when I get bored with one I switch to another (they each have a different play list). My suggestion for your ride to work would be to take CDs or something to listen to MP3s on your radio!

I listen to WGTS and like it....for the most part. One thing to consider is that I don't spend a lot of time listening to the radio, but having said that I agree with you that their play list is way too repetitive. Did you get a respnse back from them, or did they suggest becoming a member of their listeners' advisory board?

Dude, Tampa? Where at. I'm from Dade City myself, about 30 miles north.

I never cared for WGTS - it was a little too tame for me. I liked RBS and WAVA much better because they have talk radio. I learned a lot about the bible through their ministry programs - and it also helped me to understand current events from the perspective of the political right. There is a new gospel station - it is FM - I can't remember the call letters. I enjoyed it as well. On the AM dial, WBGR was a good gospel radio station. And of course, on FM - Morgan State University had the best gospel music on Sunday morning ("It's Ira Bell - on WEAA") and great Jazz programming.

Praise 104.1. They're part of Radio One.

You are a heavy radio listener, did you know that average person only listens to the radio about an hour a day? Anyway, how about 3-6 hour rotations instead?

I can relate to the "played to death" syndrome thing. Lately I've been making more frequent use of that little known feature on radios.........the "OFF" button.

Thank you. I've had this stupid radio thats been playing in my house for 10 years. The volume button was broke and I had no idea how to make it stop. I would pray for power outages to get a bit of quiet (I know, I know, the plug was fused into the wall after a lightning strike , OK).

I'm sorry, I'm just being silly. College Football begins in earnest today (a few games were held on Thursday & Friday) so I'm happy.
