Do you or have you prayed for things that are unusual or different? If so, what?

One prayer that I do often is when I see a maniac driver. If I see someone excessively speeding or driving rather crazily, I will actually pray that he/she gets caught with a ticket. lol. It's just one of those things when you actually want people to reap a specific consequence to their actions with actual good intentions...not to be spiteful.

Exactly! You want them to reap the consequences of a ticket instead of the consequences of an accident. I'm understanding what you mean.

I pray that they will slow down.

Several people have been killed around here this summer in motorcycle accidents.

It is popular for riders of "crotch rockets" to be traveling at about 55 mph and pop a long wheelie. Last week a cop saw one, leading to a long chase at over 100 mph. Finally caught with help from neighboring forces.

So maybe Above_All had a prayer answered.

A lot of times, I pray God's blessings on the car ahead of me.

I did have an unusual prayer a few weeks ago. I was noticing I was having some back pain a few days before our family's yearly trek to a particular amusement park that has become a family tradition for us. The day before we left, I found myself praying about my back pain. That's not an unusual prayer in and of itself, but I knew that the only reason I was praying it was so that I could ride the roller coasters. I am 44 years old. I felt that I had no business praying such a selfish request. But I couldn't stop myself or convince myself it was totally selfish. The idea of the trip was family time, and I didn't want anything interfering with that. At least, that was what I told myself. I knew we could have a fine time even if I didn't ride the roller coasters. I never mentioned it because I was embarrassed. But I didn't have any back pain while at the park, and I was able to ride the roller coasters with my family. God even gives blessings we don't think we deserve!

Sometimes I catch myself praying for the characters in a movie I'm watching.

LOL! I've done that too! I guess you get caught up in the drama and suspending disbelief and it's a good thing. It shows that we're in the habit of praying when we become aware of people's problems.

I hope this isn't too far off-topic, but do you know that invitational hymn Whiter than Snow? There's a line in I think the second stanza that has an unusual prayer, very similar to the one you posted: "Lord Jesus, Thou seest I patiently wait/ Come now..." Look it up. It really does say exactly that.

I remember one time praying for God to show me where my hairbrush was.

Lord teach me to love my mother-in-law just as I love the sun ... from afar.
