POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD: I took my 5 1/2 year old to see this clone vs. droid battle royale last night and we had a blast! (pun intended). Though the digital animation style may not turn some on, I really enjoyed it and thought it made for an excellent medium to tell a Star Wars tale. Some of the space scenes even look close to the live action movies. The voice acting was superb. Through the whole movie I thought that all of the live-action actors had done the voices for the characters in this movie, but watching the credits proved me wrong. Some of the original voices were here: Sam Jackson as Mace, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Chris Lee as Dooku. In my opinion the best voices were done by Jame Arnold Taylor as Obi-Wan and Catherine Tabor as Padme. I thought they were Ewan McGregor Natalie Portman. The only character that didn't sound right to me was Anakin. Matt Lanter just didn't get Hayden's sound down correctly for some reason. Very good voice acting on his own, but just didn't sound like the Anakin done by Hayden. This is kind of humorous because I was reading a review on imdb.com that says the exact opposite (that Obi-Wan stinks and Anakin rocks). I am not some stuffy critic, and I say that the voices are done very well. The only voice I didn't like AT ALL was Jabba's uncle Ziro the Hutt. They gave him this androgenous he/she voice with a heavy cajun drawl... it took me right out of the movie every time he talked. The score was excellent. The opening of the movie departed from the Star Wars mainstay opening crawl. Instead, the opening crawl was done as a voice-over (which was one of the few things I didn't care for in this movie), and the classic Star Wars theme didn't blast onto the screen immediately after "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...". Instead, it is a variation of the original theme, not as horrid as some critics are claiming. I actually quite enjoyed the variation on the theme. Throughout the movie I found myself enjoying the score time and time again, so even though John Williams is the master, whoever composed this score did a very admirable job. The action is great. My son LOVES clone and storm troopers, and there was a lot of clone vs droid action throughout the movie. The opening battle of clones trying to defend their heavy cannons on a certain planet with the aid of Obi, Anakin, and Ahsoka was really fun. I especially enjoyed the vertical ascent up the cliff face to the abandoned monastery. Captain Rex is by far my favorite character in themovie. He is one bad mamma-jamma, taking on droids hand-to-hand and holding out against impossible odds while surrounded. Commander Cody makes a brief appearance a well, but this show belongs to Rex. Overall, the blaster battles were fun, the lightsaber action was flashy, and the space battles were intense. The only "negative" elements I could see some kid-glove Christian being offended by were some brief background glimpses of Jabba's shapely dancers and one use the word uttered by Rex that sounds the same as what a beaver makes. All in all, I had a great time and so did my 5-yr-old. This is a worthy entry into the Star Wars saga, and I look forward to the TV series this fall that will continue it.

I hated Episodes I-III, and have lost interest in Star Wars since, and really have no interest in paying money to see 3 slapped together Cartoon Network programs that Lucas hastily decided to release to theaters in order to milk a few more million dollars from an entirely dead franchise. Although, the first 2d animated clone wars series that ran on Cartoon Network was actually incredibly good -much better than any of the prequels in fact (you should see that if you haven't). But Lucas didn't hire the same people people to do this one, and I've heard it's terrible, so I'm not going to bother with it.

We saw it. I have sons aged 9, 8, 5, & 3 and the 8 year old wanted to see it for his birthday. It's good PG fare. Full of action. Clean. A great elementary school (perhaps even into middle school) boy movie. We all had fun. I wouldn't overly recommend it to an adult who may be looking for another Star Wars movie. It doesn't have the CGI level we've come to expect (although the 3D-ness of this cartoon is amazing for people who are into that) and the story is average. The voice talent is good (I agree with the first poster). The characters are fun even if the teacher-padawan premise is pretty obvious. I called Uncle Ziro 'Tennesse Williams' the whole time. He was pretty overdone. The new young female jedi was a nice change for girls that like the series. Personally I've never liked Padme. She never shaped up as intelligent or tough as Leia. To anyone who hasn't rented the Cartoon Network series (volume 2--volume 1 are all stylized fighting episodes that put me to sleep) they are missing a good component of the series which chronicles Anakin's move from padawan to jedi during a quest. This one is not quite as well written, but it is certainly not slapped together. It's written and marketed for the younger crowd (as the rating exhibits) and does that extremely well.

I loved the Cartoon Network micro-series and bought both volumes as soon as they came out :) I think this movie is a good fusion between the anime of the CN series and the live action "canon" of live-action movies.

Sums it up for me. Actually, I didn't even bother to go see II or III because I hated the first one so much. quote:

However, I've heard that the movie is way too confusing and is mainly for kids and die-hard fans who like SW trivia. I have heard that the graphics are good, though.

"Confusing" is one of the last word I would use to describe any Star Wars movie, especially this one. It is about as straight-forward as they come: Count Dooku wants his Separatist fleets to be able to use the shipping lanes along the outer-rim, an area of space controlled by the Hutts. So he kidnaps Jabba's son, making it look like the Jedi did it so he can swoop in and be Jabba's hero and secure an agreement for his fleets to travel through. That is about it. There isn't really any of Anakin's struggle with the dark side, except a warning from Yoda to Obi-Wan that Anakin may struggle with letting his new padawan go once he becomes attached, eluding to Anakin's "unhealthy" tendency to form emotional bonds forbidden to Jedi. If nothing else, it is just a fun movie to watch.

And if you're only familiar with the first three movies, or only vaguely paid attention to the next set, then the above will mean nothing to you.
