I have received requests from two individuals, both from the Ivoire Coast W. Africa. One sent a mass mailing for money to go to nursing school and I just got around to checking her against the member list and found no matches. This was received a while back. Now I have been receiving e-mails from another person who represents them self as a woman from the same area whose parents were assassinated and this person is listed as a member. She wants my bank info. so she can transfer 12.5 million and then come to the US. I asked her to PM me to conform that she is not using someone Else's identity and she confirmed that she is the same person and wants to put money in my account. I have received this kind of scam via e-mail before but since it is happening within the community, I thought that I should make it known. Do you want me to identify this person?

Yes, please. Forward the PM to one or more of the moderators (click on Reply, and change the recipient to one of the mods. Then click the Quote Original button.) Copy over the person's forum nickname as well.

To anyone who receives any sort of communication (I used to get them via snail mail) wanting to wire money into your bank account:
DO NOT COMMUNICATE BACK WITH THEM IN ANY WAY.
This is very foolish, and does nothing to help anyone except criminals. Do you really want a scammer to know that your email address is valid? Do you want a scammer to know your real name?
No good will come from contacting the scammer.
This scam is so old that I am surprised it still works, but apparently it does as it is still rampant.
Just report; do not contact the person.

It sounds like we took care of this person.
Dave, since you got the second one in an email, would you please copy/paste
it to me via PM? Please include her handle.
As PS103 said, it's never a good idea to respond to these people in any way.

The original appeared in my junk mail folder and indicated that it was from crosswalk membership and gave her log in handle so I replied to her to get her to send me a PM confirming that she was not using someone Else's ID. That is how I obtained the confirmation PM which I sent to the 3 of you. I am not sure if I know enough to copy and Paste an e-mail into a PM. My junk mail folder has been deleting the messages that she sent but I have copies in my sent folder. I was trying to get as much info. out of this person as possible. I at least got her to PM the incriminating info.
