Is there any way to have the links provided by mods (e.g. threads moved, etc) and even other users be relative to the domain through which you logged in? It seems like they're all linked to faithcommunitynetwork.com (for mods), and for end-users, all the links are relative to whatever domain they're using. It's kind of annoying to be logged in through crosswalk.com and have to re-log in through fatihcommunitynetwork.com or christianity.com or whatever any time somebody posts a link. It' be nice if I could click a link to somewhere else on the site and have it work w/o me having to log in again. -Dan.

It is possible to make relative links, and mods almost always do. It is the forums "Move thread" feature that you are talking about with mods, right? The problem is that we do not always remember to make the links relative on those--at least I don't. It just doesn't pop into my tiny mind. I will try to do better. For others, it is up to them to learn to make a relative link and employ them--we do not require it and we do not edit all links to make them relative. They are simple enough to change, though. For this page the link for me is http://faithcommunitynetwork.com/Links_from_mods/m_4965317/mpage_1/tm.htm#0 If I clicked on the link from another portal and wanted to be on that one, all I have to do is highlight faithcommunitynetwork.com and type in forums.crosswalk.com (or whatever I wanted) to go to the same page on the other portal. This is what I do when someone links and are in another portal--it is an extra step, but it isn't that difficult to do. To make a relative link so that all portals work with your link, just copy the portion of the address with the / after the domain name--for this page it would be /Links_from_mods/m_4965317/mpage_1/tm.htm#0 Then type whatever word you want clickable to go to the link, like HERE. Highlight the word, click the link button at the top of the text box, copy the portion of the link you got earlier in the URL* box, then click the drop-down menu above it and choose "relative". And you get this: HERE which works across all portals to bring you to this thread. Or, you can typ it in manually, and it would look like this (without the extra spaces): [link = relative / Links_from_mods/m_4965317/mpage_1/tm.htm#0]HERE[ /link]

Yeah, I understand how to get it to work. It'd be nice, though, if there could be an automated script or something. I know that vbulletin has an automatic text-replace feature for posts, usually used for profanity & smilies, though not necessarily. I imagine ASPPlayground.net has something similar. -Dan.

I think that would take more than this system can handle. I try to remember to make a relative link when I move a thread.

I'm not a mod, but I try to remember to make any links to other areas of forums a relative one. and don't forget: Relative links only work within forums, not with outside links!
