As a tip: a member can always "unmark" the box that says, "Allow others to send you e-mail?". This can be found in the "email section" of your profile. I believe it is the system's default to mark that box, and that the member needs to manually unmark it, if that's their preference.
To access your profile, either click on your handle, or click on "My Profile" in the "Forum Tools" box located at the top of any page.
