I'm trying to figure out why I as a christian should listen to a mormon tell me how my church should run.

Maybe it's a back handed recruitment method.

Glen Beck knows sensationalism works. However, that has nothing to do with the possibility of a deep rooted drive to promote socialism, even in some churches.

My biggest question would be what about groups such as MCC, which has a long record of promoting social justice way before it became a political agenda?

Anytime you put everyone under 1 umbrella you are wrong imo.

It's not odd at all to know some churches have in the past and will continue to be forces used to further satan's agenda. I don't get why Glen Beck is being targeted for saying what he said...Most news reporting today is all about sensationalism so why pick him out of the crowd?

Social justice and what it means has absolutely nothing to do with true christianity.

I woulda thought that most would agree that political agendas, like social justice, should not be part of church.

Oh, thats right its only conservative politics that must be thrown out of churches.

...and we are partasan...

LOL!!!!!!!!

You are so right; Social Justice, Revolution Theology, Social Theology, and Economic Theology have nothing, and I mean nothing to do with being a Christian.

How do those on this thread who criticize social justice define that phrase?

I'm a long time conservative and I have no use for Mormon Beck pretending to be a Christian voice.

Absolute equality of position, economics, etc.

And Christ said;

(Mat 26:11) For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

We as indivdual Christians are instructed to help the Brothern, and give to the poor. That is an outflow from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Social Justice, among other things, is governmental mandated distribution of wealth.

Thanks
RC

I think that his statement was more of a political admonishment that trying to be a Christian voice.

We just had an inicident in Oklahma City where a number of Churches had been giving monies to a "Social Justice" group. This was done without the knowledge of congregants. The group recieving the money supported Abortion, sensual sex education from the third grade, and numerous other things that were abborrent to the congregants.

The folks found out about it when somone looked at the web site.

So I think Beck has a very good point Euty, for even a Morman can get things right at times.

Thanks
RC

Social Justice is the worst sort of heresy and false teaching.

I have heard many, many pastors preach social justice. They are all about politics, they do not know Christ. I don't see Christ in them. I have even been involved at a national level in a 'mainstream' denomination. The emphasis is on this monstrous political philosophy and not on Christ. In fact Christ gets lost in the political agenda. Most social justice pastors are actually deficient in scriptural knowledge. I even had one tell me that we shouldn't use scripture in Church.

This is from Wikipedia:
quote:

Social justice is also a concept that some use to describe the movement towards a socially just world. In this context, social justice is based on the concepts of human rights and equality and involves a greater degree of economic egalitarianism through progressive taxation, income redistribution, or even property redistribution, policies aimed toward achieving that which developmental economists refer to as more equality of opportunity and equality of outcome than may currently exist in some societies or are available to some classes in a given society.

Beck is right. He may be a Mormon, but I second, restate, and yell his conclusion from the rooftops.

Well, I've heard him on more than one occasion say that he is a born again Christian. I tend to get my hackles up when a Mormon tries to suck others into the web of mormon lies and deceit by pretending to be a Christian, no matter what their political views seem to be.

Guess I'm just funny that way.

I agree that the Mormon Church teaches error, and I have two families in my Chruch who came out of the Mormon Church.

If a person is depending on what the Mormon's teach for salvation, then they are in a lot of trouble.

I also believe that some in the Mormon Chruch are saved, for God knows no limits (I am not referencing Beck in specificity for I do not know him), and I believe that there are some saved folks in the RCC, LDS, and even the Jehovas.

Mormons believe that they are "Born Again" and will state that, so they are not trying to decieve, but being decieved.

Thanks
RC

You're absolutely right, RC. As a deceived (for 3 years) former Mormon, I can attest that nearly all Mormons believe they, and only they, are saved and born again.

While I absolutely agree that the Mormon church is in error. No argument with that at all.

Just because Beck isn't a born-again Christian, doesn't mean that he doesn't have a valid point.

I think (if you didn't pick up on it earlier) that the Social Justice crowd is just as bad or even worse. Also I've had more firsthand experience with the Social Justice and even Liberation Theology crowd. I'm disgusted at what's happened to many denominations. Let's be clear these churches are shrinking both in members and in faithfulness to the gospel.

In my experience, many of those folks are not even theists, much less Christians. Any Christian should view the social justice crowd as both a mission field and spreaders of false teachings.

I'm with Beck on this one. The fact that a Mormon has to tell Christians to run from liberation theology gives evidence to the sorry state of affairs in main-line churches.

I've been a diehard Republican since Reagan's first run for President and I'm a lifelong Baptist, but I don't need Beck's advice on matters of faith or the direction that true body of Christ, the Church, should take.

Some people seem intent on proving that politics make strange bedfellows.

How do we know Glen Becks heart? Sorry but I hear Beck preach the word of God far more often than any other commentator on TV and I have never heard him to preach any teaching of the Mormon Church. I understand the fallacies of Mormon Doctrine and can condemn that but I cannot condemn any one man...can you?

Beck is correct, if you attend a feel good church that teaches social justice and equal moral standings, as opposed to the gospel and true word of God you better run for the hills.

In Messiah,

Bob.

I'd have to say, as is often the case, that I agree with Beck.
