I've been using The Yahoo Web Broser for about 5 years after dumping AOL a long time ago. I'm getting really tired of it and am wonedring if anyone out there is using Fire Fox. If so, how do you like it ? I've heard a lot about it, all supposedly good. Or what other web brosers can anyone recomend? Thanks. Spiritchsr1

I am currently using FireFox in both Windows and Linux. Opera and Flock are also nice web browsers. However I really like FireFox and it is usually the first thing I recommend to die hard windows users. It is a lot more secure than any of the M$'s offerings and FireFox has never crashed on me. It is also very customizable with numerous add ons and themes. All The Best, Jon

I'd strongly recommend using Firefox. It has several advantages, one of them being safety---it's security holes are patched in a matter of days or weeks, vs. months and years with Internet Explorer (I'm pretty sure that what you are calling the Yahoo Browser is a Yahoo-branded version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer). Additionally, Firefox has a great password manager, and plenty of themes/skins so you can get it looking just the way you want it. It also has what are called extensions--little utilities to get the browser to do something extra. There are other browsers out there--Opera is one; Apple offers a Windows version of Safari. I have found Safari to be nice, but it does freeze up on me more than the others do. I just like Firefox the best. And I've used Firefox for quite a long time. I'd recommend it to anyone, and put it on my parents' computer, and they love it too.

Yahoo and MSN are not web browsers...... As for actual web browsers? I use Firefox 3.0.1 and have been using Mozilla since 1997 or so. IE is garbage.

I wish my employer would switch to Firefox! I use it at home and I love it. Much less quirky, better benefits and add-ons.

ORIGINAL: iluvatar I didn't know Yahoo made a web browser. I believe the OP was referring to "Yahoo! Best of the Web", a shortcut to IE. That, or the SBC Yahoo! Browser that comes with DSL. As for FireFox, I downloaded it in the past and didn't like it, but I'm considering trying it once more. I'm tired of IE lag. EDIT: I just downloaded FireFox two seperate times. Both times it froze on the start page or got stuck, which I had to access the task manager before it would work again, and the same problems reoccured. After the ridiculous hype, one would think it would actually work.

I've been using Firefox for a few months now and like it better than IE 7. When Firefox updated to 3.0, I couldn't get on another website with forums that I visit quite regularly. I added the FlashPlayer plug-in required, and it would always freeze up. One of my friends told me that there are still some bugs in 3.0 and reccommended I go back to Firefox 2.0.16. I did that and have not had any other issues. I still use IE 7 some to check hotmail. My wife still prefers IE 7, and when I was using Firefox to do check email, our email accounts would be deleted on both for some reason so that we always had to retype our info.

It's IE that has been rebranded by MS - no one will say it is its own browser. And none of that can even be claimed for Yahoo, please, it's a search engine, a portal (and a cruddy one at that) for goodness sake. Not a web browser.

ORIGINAL: earthless It actually works perfectly. It sounds like a Windows OS issue for you... Not really, being that there has been numerous complaints about such issues on their website. It's not just me.

What probably happened is your profile in Firefox is either corrupt or did not entirely import over properly. Save your bookmarks and create a new one and you'll be good to go. Start -> Run. firefox -p A new window will come up and you need to create a new profile.

I used Firefox for years and recently switched to Maxthon. It's faster and the online favorites backup works better (thanks to a problem with Firefox, I lost all my favorites on two computers).
