Who did you vote for in the 2010 Singing News Fan Awards. This is always fun to see the artists other fans/posters like and how people's votes did for the Top 10 nominees.

Here are the artists I nominated:

Favorite Artist: Perrys
Favorite Male Quartet: Gold City
Favorite Mixed Group: Perrys
Favorite Trio: Greater Vision
Favorite Soloist: Janet Paschal
Favorite Male Vocalist: Joseph Habedank
Favorite Female Vocalist: Libbi Perry Stuffle
Favorite Horizon Individual: Sheryl Farris
Favorite Horizon Group: Sisters
Favorite Young Artist: Bryan Elliott
Favorite Soprano: TaRanda Greene
Favorite Alto: Libbi Perry Stuffle
Favorite Tenor: Josh Cobb
Favorite Lead: Joseph Habedank
Favorite Baritone: Rodney Griffin
Favorite Bass: Tim Riley
Favorite Musician: Jeff Stice
Favorite Songwriter: Joseph Habedank
Favorite Album: "Almost Morning" -Perrys

If you can't tell, my favorite group is the Perrys. :)

I'm still considering it, but you've made some good choices. I'm a Perry's and Greater Vision fan myself.

LOL. Oh well, I forgot to renew my subscription to SN anyway, so I couldn't have done it anyway. LOL

Best kept secret ever. Kudos SGN. Can't think of a single reason to announce the nominations in the southern gospel forum.

I'm not following what you mean, kingsman. Why do you think it was a secret?

Yeah, they do it every year in March. If you're a subscriber, it should be obvious by glancing at the cover of the March issue that the time is nigh. If you're not a subscriber, well, you can't vote anyway.

I get the electronic version. I would have liked the opportunity to participate in the nomination process. Had an announcement been made in this forum, everyone would have known WHETHER OR NOT they've been around here for years and have come to expect something to happen in March. That was my only point. Missed opportunity. When the Perry's get less than a dozen votes, I can only conclude that I am not the only person who had no idea that nominations were open UNTIL they were closed. I guess that's one way to ENSURE that only the DESIRED artists and groups are even considered. Nice stunt ... too cute by half.

didn't bother to nominate and probably won't vote either even though I am a subscriber. It's my paltry protest @ the awards being moved from NQC.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. No voting this year.

The Perrys actually got 14 nominations if that is to what you are referring.

I can't understand why so many people get upset when they must not visit the SN website to know what is going on. I also don't understand what is wrong with SN moving the awards program from NQC to Dollywood. A couple of years ago the Diamond Awards was moved from the NQC to Branson and I don't recall anyone saying a thing about that move. NQC and SN are two seperate opeartions and neither is tied to the other. I don't see why either the NQC or SN needs to get the others permission to move. The decision was made by SN to move the awards program which they are entitled to. They could have even moved it to Singing In The Sun, Gatlinburg Gathering or any event they wanted to. They could have even set it up by themselves anywhere they so desired to. I don't have a problem with where the awards program is. I didn't approve of moving it from Thursday to Saturday, but they didn't ask me nor did I get a vote. I keep up with SN website and am on their e-mail list so I know what's going on there. I don't think anyone is obligated to post or notify anyone on this or anyother forum on what is going on.

Let's ignore the elephant in the room. So make a liar out of me for two votes. Reckon there might have been a few more had it been announced in this forum?

Now for that elephant ...

What's the sense of hosting a Southern Gospel forum if the Singing News cannot take a minute to post the fact that NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN for Singing News' "southern gospel" awards.

Missed opportunity.

Didn't the electronic March issue have the same article about voting in the Fan Awards as the print edition? No busier than this forum is compared to the overall subscriber base of the Singing News, I can't see how an announcement here would have made any significant difference in the outcome.

Regarding the Perrys, 14 nominations is a LOT. There are just 20 categories, and the Perrys aren't eligible for nominations in precisely six of those categories (Favorite Soprano, Soloist, Trio, Horizon Group, Tenor and Traditional Quartet). In other words, they got every possible nomination...short of having multiple members nominated for favorite male singer or something like that, which has happened a time or two in the past with the Booth Brothers and possible some other groups.

Not trying to get you stirred up, by the way, or call you a liar...I just don't think eight or ten more votes from this forum would have made much difference in the outcome or that the mag missed any significant opportunities by failing to remind the forum readers to vote.

The Perrys have 14 TOP TEN SPOTS not votes! Looks to be like a LOT of Perrys fans knew the awards were open.

DBM is right on with his comments!

I really do not believe there was any conspiracy to ensure that any allegedly desired artists got the nominations.

The people nominated seem reasonable to me. I don't notice any glaring omissions or any artist who got nominated that doesn't deserve it.

I really believe it's all on the up and up, and all the conspircay theories that surface every year are baseless.

I appreciate both of your comments. Since I didn't know about the nominations, I certainly had no idea how things were setup. I was relying upon the OP's (Andrew) comment.

As to DMB's question, I must have missed it in the electronic newsletter.

I only read this forum on Singing News so I miss lots of stuff. With three internet stations, moderating duties another site and a full-time job, that's about all I can handle. I would like to have participated in the nominations. Maybe next year. Perhaps someone will announce when the voting begins and/or I'll get an email ballot or something. It could happen.

Well I have no "dog" in the race, so it doesn't matter to me. I got sick of voting many years ago.....same ole people win almost every year anyhoo.....Oh, and I wasn't calling any of the artists "dogs"....just a slang word. All are very good singers & most are friends of mine, just got tired of seeing the same people win EVERY year! And I agree with what Robert York said.

I think the biggest reason it wasn't announced on this forum is that the SN is such a small part of the Salem conglomerate, no one even gave it a thought. This is so much more Salem's forum than the SN. We just enter Salem's realm by way of SN.

Salem can do well without SGM but it's the only part of Salem that I hanker for.
